Is there a carbon fiber hood that wont fall apart?

I paid around $800 for a vis hood a few years ago and within a year or two It faded really bad and was cracking everywhere. Does anyone sell carbon that can take the sunlight and snow without wearing or cracking?

Make sure you use your heat shields as well keep the underside from cracking.

CBRD, fortune auto and a couple other companies sell the high heat gold foil that would work for preserving your hood from engine heat as well. just a thought.

What I've seen many people do is when they buy a CF hood, get the gel coat sanded down and have a real clear coat of paint applied. That clear will last longer then the standard gel coat.

You can also use boat wax for fiberglass boats that works really well as well.

in all honesty most of the "carbon trunks and hoods" out there today are carbon laid over fiberglass-

^+1! oem ftw! It's lighter than most carbon hoods out there and def fits way better. Get someone to wrap your hood with carbon wrap.

For 800 should've spent a little more and gotten a robispec hood. Aren't they about 900?

Light as all heck and damn good looking before the fade though. I think all brand new C/F should be recleared after purchase. I had a similar problem on my Seibon trunk for my Subie. And a VIS trunk on my Evo...

C/F isn't worth the money unless it's dry-carbon in my opinion. Weight savings just isn't there. Unless of course you want that Honda boy eye-banging your ride...which maybe you do?

I like carbon fiber for looks as well. Don't know why this site frowns on appearance mods.
