Pictures from Buttonwillow Raceway with some epic carnage
That is a pretty ignorant thing to say.
Your car doesn't have an oil filter? Things happen on track days. Motors let got, fluids leak, and people go home having a bad day sometimes. I'm sure he did not intend to have his oil filter come off.
I say good job to him for tracking his car! Something A LOT of other people cannot say they do or have the ***** to do. They would just rather hard park and slam their car.

Agreed....If you have the time and money and heart to soup up your mothers minivan and you get it running 10's and 11's and holding the track like a rail, then more power to you. It is always interesting to see what people make possible out of something nobody else expected.
I was told from a guy (fellow evo driver that was there) whose friend was the dude in the civic that his oil filter came off and the cabin filled with smoke, so he thought there was a fire. Thats the reason why he ran from his own car.
If you track your car often, I highly recommend a rollbar of some sort, preferably one that has welded in plates and you can bolt it right in. You need to be willing to sacrafice your backseats for the sake of safety. It all comes down to how much is your life worth. Ask yourself that and you will get your answer. How much is your hands worth? If alot get gloves. rinse repeat for every part of your body.
Yeah, can't believe Ben drove his freshly painted car to the track...lol. I would have just tracked it until the paint is all gone to **** and when im done tracking for good, call it a day and repaint it then.

This fire happened at a event I was running last year in AZ to a fellow racer (and a Civic too). Scary ****!!!!! It blows my mind how many people that track their car that don't have some type of fire suppression system (in this video a fire system is worthless due to the back draft)
