19's vs 18's - Why so many haters?
[OT] If you can't comprehend the feel of control every time one's hand touches the wheel, the direct relationship between the pilot and the machine, etc, etc, etc, and having a car that allows for this to happen in an absurdly fleshed-out manner, then WTF are we talking about? You want to decorate the thing? Great. Go next door. You want to know why driving enthusiasts won't screw up their cars for a prettier look? They told you. You want to be taken seriously? Don't use a word like "hater" on a technical forum. [/OT]

I think 19's are really hit or miss in the looks department. ive seen a couple that look ok but most just seem unproportional to me. again like someone said tires are even more expensive and 19s would be automatically be heavier than the same 17's or 18's..and then theres the performance disadvantage. so yea, thats why i wouldnt do it
I once ran 18 X 8.5 Ralliart RO1 wheels on my EVO and I hated it. It looked nice but made my car feel a lot slower in acceleration, braking, etc and the car sat noticibly higher.... but the grip was fantastic though since I was running Yokohama auto-x tires..

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Weight and tire costs.
Price out some 19s to similar OE sized tires.
And people who are talking about gearing...rolling diameter can be retained with the right wheel choice. A 245/35R19 has almost the same diameter (25.3 v. 25.8).

I do. Perhaps I'd feel differently if I only pulled out the car to take pictures and talk about the track on the Internet.

Are you one of those hoons that 'enjoys' his vehicle on the street? Let's not beat around the bush, you simply cannot appreciate nor enjoy 3/4's of any of the performance mods you do to your vehicle whilst abiding to all road rules.
But you're right, I'm sorry. I was unaware that everybody completes time trials everytime they drive to the local shop. In that case I should be running 17's with semi's right? Oh wait, 17's don't fit because of my 6pots. Why do I have 6pots you ask? Hmmm, perhaps because I'm a 'driving enthusiast'.
Yes, I consider myself a driving enthusiast. But there's a difference between a 'hoon' and a driving enthusiast. Based on your previous statement, I'm leaning toward you being the former - hater.
Forgot to add that for a claimed driving enthusiast your cars pretty much stock besides for some new wheels. Watch out! FJF's an avid driving enthusiast!
This topic was never about my selection of wheels or setup. 1/2 of the replies have not bothered reading the OP and repeatedly reply with comments that have nothing to do with the OP.
I really don't care what you think about my selection of wheels nor am I boasting. As OP states (which you clearly didn't read), I am interested about WHY people prefer them.

<grin> I see the rest of your post reflects a similarly lighthearted perspective.
I enjoy my car every time I drive it. As 19" wheels would slow me down, they're not even a consideration. If you think I'm going to embarrassed, because I admit to having fun with my car in its native manner - as in, when it's moving - on a high-performance automotive forum dedicated to one of the higher performing machines on Earth, you need to get a grip. That's what this is all about. The comment I replied to:
^^^ See, that's why I care. Because I care about performance and I'm really not sorry that you're offended by it.
At this point, your comments equate to trolling. You're on a suspension board arguing with folks, because they choose not to compromise the handling of their cars for a look. Absurd.
My comment is quoted right above. Can you briefly explain why you decided to create a fairy tale, in lieu of actually responding to what was said?
I don't know; why do you? The stock Brembos with task-specific pads and fluid do quite well. Must be the same reason you kept the stock FMIC, on a car that is claimed to be "tracked," but added a whole slew of shiny boltons and cosmetic mods. As you probably know, I got that from the link in your sig. It also mentions your parents making you take defensive driving classes. If you don't mind my asking, how young of a chap are you?
That's called being modding enthusiast. Everything you've said so far revolves around a showcar metric.
OK, I'm a hoon. I bet there's a whole lot of other words you could call me that mean absolutely nothing.
Case in point: To you modifications equate to an automotive orientation. We've come full circle.
[If you really must know, my Evo runs on the stock SE BBS'. I'm on my third set of street tires in 20K miles, if that makes you feel better, and likely ready for another set toward fall. Third set of pads, too.]
What is the question that remains unanswered?

I know 19's on an evo compromises the handling performance considerably, but who really cares on the street?

Go ahead and discuss your amazing feats on the road, I'm sure everybody is very impressed when they read them.
Be a real driving enthusiast - get on the track and put some times down.
On the track? It's all about function and performance.
Thats probably why I finished top 5 in the World Time Attack last year and won runner up in the Show n Shine.
But hey, I'm just a poser right?
What would you prefer - 19s or 18s and why?
Maybe you should of read the OP, eh?
Why do you keep arguing with folks who care about performance, on a forum dedicated to performance?
Edit: Sorry, I have another question:
