19's vs 18's - Why so many haters?

I've recently noticed that alot of people have been commenting negatively on several CT9A's opting for 19's over 18's.

Just wondering why this is?

Is it an aesthetic disliking? or more so that 19's ruin the purpose of the evo?

I know 19's on an evo compromises the handling performance considerably, but who really cares on the street? (In Australia the police presence on modified cars is ridiculous. We get fined for 'Excessive Acceleration')

I'm currently undergoing a custom widebody and have opted for a set of 19's for the road with a set of 18's for the track when I want to actually enjoy my car.

I’m curious to hear the reasoning behind your preferences.

Thanks,

larger wheels change final drive in the transmission. We went fast cars not cars that look like they belong in a car show. Why do you think alot of racers go 15s or 14s if they can find them to fit.

So you race on the road?
In that case you probably should also be rolling around on semi's.

I just said I don't care for performance on the road as I already have a set 18's with semi's for the track.

personally I dont mind 19s when it's done right and the body fits it, I think its more of a stance/look thing....and people will say Evos are meant to be driven aggressively and not a cruising car, and that stance look is crap.....but not everybody goes to the drag strip or the track or offroad...and if they do, like you said, just get a set of 18s for a track day setup...I am starting to lean toward the stanced look, not crazy low, just some coilovers and a more aggressive camber...somewhere in between. On the X's it's a completely different story, they already look like boats they are so massive..

GTR was also built around that. Different final drive, and the stance fits it. An evo with say 20s wouldn't handle or perform the same being it was not ment for that.

If you dont care about performance then why buy a performance car? Your gonna get worse gas millage, worse final drive, on top of that you have to run a skinnier tire.

Looks like half the cars where I live in Florida, ridiculous...

But, to answer the OP, I dont see anything wrong with 19's, a friend of mine had them on an Evo and they looked sick

I said I dont care for performance on the road. I don't street race/drag/drift on the road, so I don't see what the big deal is.

milage, final drive etc doesn't phase me, it's a weekend cruiser and a track warrior when required.

Thats why I have a set of 18s for the track.

You already said you don't care about it. If it is weekend cruiser and a track warrior, then this will come into play. I mean its your car do what you will but when asking about it and people comming up with what happens when you go larger diameter rims and tires and then it doesn't phase you and you don't seem to care, then why ask at all?

I agree, but when you claim to track and whatever the car it would matter wouldn't you think?
