Carbon Fiber Wrapping
Carbon Fiber Wrapping
I have come across some carbon fiber wrapping kits. Was wondering if the technique is difficult and if i would prefer to have someone else do the wrapping for me.

Honestly, every carbon fiber wrap job ive seen, online or in person looks really trashy. IF you still want it then i would highly advise having it professionally done to keep it looking the best, but imo CF Wraps are basically saying you cant afford to put real CF parts on your car, or you want the cheap way out. Thats just my opinion.
Make sure to use 3m CF wrap, and large objects can be wrapped, just make sure you have a fine needle, box knife, something to smooth it out, and lots of time.
In my opinion cost wise paying a pro to wrap it and the wrap itself can cost the same as a real CF hood or trunk.
Also take into consideration if you did do it yourself it has the possibility to turn out disastrous. For the cost of the wrap and the amount of time you spend on it, it might just be better to do some overtime at your job and buy real CF

I've got my radio surround, centre console, window controls and the little plastic triangle in front of my side mirrors carbon wrapped with 3M wrap. Everyone seems to like it, haven't had anyone say it looks cheap. I did it myself with about $20 worth of materials, much much cheaper than real carbon, even if you could get the parts. I'll try and take some pics tomorrow and post them up.
I figured i could get a kit and wrap stuff to practice, my main argument being that i want to wrap my already oem pieces instead of buying cf pieces is that a lot of cf pieces are oem pieces already wrapped in cf and the idea that to construct a TRUE cf piece would cost much more then the benefits are worth

No, I'm not sure if you even could, i think if you had a clear polyurathane paint maybe but it would have to be a flexible paint. I think a hard coat would just crack off in hot weather, or turn yellow.
BTW whats with the clean engine bay comments? I don't get it!
