looking for close up pics of jdm rear bumper install

just had a new JDM rear bumper installed
having trouble with fitment
driveline says it is the installer
installer says it is the bumper

i'm looking for some pictures similar to the ones that are attached that show how the bumper looks on your car where it meets the trunk and also at the wheel well corners.

as per the pictures attached, you'll see:
1. the bumper bulges out where it meets the trunk and also seems to have a larger gap between the trunk and the bumper than i would expect
2. there is an inconsistent gap where the bumper meets the rear fender.
3. from the top, the bumper doesn't line up with the rear fender.
4. the paint at the very corner near the wheel well has a strange mark

thanks in advance.

Do you have the OEM crash beam still in there, or an aftermarket one, or none at all?

Was the car in an accident? All parts are brand new? Are the gaps equal on both sides of the car, or just one side?

If it is an authentic JDM rear then it is the installer. The authentic ones fit perfect. And if it came from Drive Line, then its def the installer. Also if you have the factory crash beam then that either needs to come off, or you need to get a different crash beam.

according to the installer there is no crash beam (they were redoing the work but forgot to tell me there was nothing back there)

i looked under the car and can't see a support but I'm not sure what i'm looking for or if i should see something.

This would drive me crazy. I would drop it back at the shop and tell them it is an OEM Mitsubishi part and it should fit perfect, and that you will be back to pick the car up when the work is completed correctly.

i'm caught in the middle of a he said she said battle
what the installer has on their side is another bumper on another car from driveline that fits the exact same, so their opinion is...that is just how it fits

thats why i'm hoping to get some close up pics so i can show that the other possibility is that other bumpers fit fine.

hmm, interesting.

I asked in a previous post...has your car ever been in any accidents previously?

never been in an accident

that being said, when I had my first bumper installed at method 4, they had my car for almost 3 weeks and there were some strange occurences.
1. they called me to let me know that they were returning my car and then called to let me know that they had to bring it another time because something fell off on the way.
2. the manager called to tell me he was going to have to submit something to his insurance because the bumper install was going to take longer than what he expected
3. the manager claimed that my car had previously been in an accident because he found rust and issues with my crash beam (bought my car brand new and never had an accident)
4. they decided to repaint the bumper because the color didn't match. yet i got bumper wit ha terrible paint job, that didn't fit and that was messed up at the corners.

so i always expected that something happened but could never confirm. i asked the latest installer to take a look, they said they didn't see anything but I'm not sure about their install at this point either.

You could always have them speak directly to Driveline. Let them tell them it is an OEM part and it is supposed to fit perfect.

Sounds like you need to take your car some where else.

Very similar to what happened to me with my previous evo, but it was because I had the demonworks crashbeam and I could tell it made the bumper not fit perfectly so I lived with it. Next time I get the jdm bumper I'll have the stock crashbeam modded to fit.

I had the exact same problem on one side when i bought my jdm bumper. I removed it and play with the support that i probably bent when i was removing it from the stock bumper. Now looks perfect on both side !
