anyone know how to

does anyone know how to reclear or refinish carbon fiber? i just got a cf trunk and the top was faded pretty bad. so i wet sanded it and sprayed it with rattle can clear coat but it didnt really trun out so good so i wet sanded it a lil bit more and waxed it but its still very dull, it looks like dry carbon fiber. also there are some spider cracks at one of the corners. can that be fixed as well?

There's a thread on this:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...bon-wings.html

Read through the whole thing.

The spray clear you get at a parts store is a waste of time. You need a urethane one that will hold up to UV rays. Something like SprayMax Urethane Aerosol Clear. It has a hardener that you combine with the paint inside. You will then have 24 hours to lay down all your coats before it clears.

Once you put all your coats down, you'd wet sand it with like 1500 grit paper, go over it with a cutting compound, then polish it.

Hate to ask but why would you use a rattle can clear coat on a 1k part..? Prep the part if you feel so inclined and take it to a paint shop for real clear coat. When you sand it out, dont go too deep, take your time , use a very fine grit or you wont like the finish because the clear coat is going to highlight eveything. And once your done, dont put wax on it--get it cleared and fully cured.

Your rattle can clear coat is your problem.
Sand off the **** clear, and have some real clearcoat applied. Problem solved.

The Spraymax 2 part urethane clearcoat I mentioned costs $35. There is a point of diminishing returns when spending $5 on an Autozone clear coat will actually cost you more, both in money to refinish it, and in your time wasted.

Go on youtube and see what kind of results people have gotten with it.
