Quick painting question ?

Hey does anyone happen to know I have an 06 Evo ix Tarmac Black with a carbon fiber wing. Does anyone know is it possible to take the carbon fiber piece out of the wing or just leave it in and mask it off to be painted. The car is actually in the shop now I need to talk it over with the guy about what needs painting and what doesn't. Any other opinions I was thinking of leaving the wing portion carbon fiber of course, what about all the trim opinions? Door. Jambs will be done I was thinking about just leaving the rubber stripping around the doors and the hood vent trim black and paint everything else. Thanks guys.

They should just be able to rape over the carbon fiber, pliant what needs to be painted and take the tape off. Same as they do with a sunroof or whatever

the edge is open enough to wear disassembling the wing shouldnt be necessary. they should be able to mask in those edges for you.

If he is asking so many questions, are you trusting him to paint?? lol When I paint a car, I know what I am doing lol.

As for your questions. The wing can be masked off easily. And if it were me, Id leave the trim stuff black. Leave it alone, looks much better that way.

Any other opinions on the trim ? I just think it will look strange the car having a fresh paint job wouldn't the old black look dull compared to the fresh paint?

Leave them black. You can even buy trim paint from the parts store that you can spray on afterwards. It's specifically designed for trim and bumpers so it has that black trim finish. Not shiny or totally dull. I did mine about a year ago and they still look new.

I saw a lime green evo on here that had matching trim. It wasn't to my liking. You can try your luck at photoshop and see what your car will look like once painted in the color you like. It would be worth it to spend several hours on a virtual paint job before painting. Just my .02.

Yes, it is not hard to take the CF wing out of the end pieces. Just remove the whole wing, pry open the ends and the CF center unbolts from the ends.

I know what you mean. I have been wanting to paint the trim a semi gloss black since the vinyl is chipping in some places
