Screen Vs. Lower DIN = ?
I am looking to upgrade my headunit since I lost my old one from the stupid crash so that was ridicolous. But anyways I had a screen in my old one but it was in the origianl area but for my new evo. I have moved the radio to the bottom due to gauges. I was wondering if anyone has been able to fit a screen in the bottom one and pros and cons of it. My small fear is that well the screen will be hard to see and the lip of the top area willl keep the screen from fully beign able to tilt up.
I am interested in getting this.
AVH-P7500DVD
Mobile DVD Digital Server with 7-inch Motorized, Touch Panel Display
M.S.R.P. $2,700.00
if not that I am thinking of giogn with a simple headunit as long as it plays mp3s.
DEH-P8500MP
CD/WMA/MP3 Player - OEL Display with Motorized Dual Display
M.S.R.P. $550.00
or something like this...

I think that with that lip, the angle you'd have to have on the screen would make it somewhat difficult to see the screen. Plus also consider that when it opens, it may hit the shifter. I think the pioneer 8500 is a good choice for the bottom din because you get the controls tilted up a bit and easier to see when its in the lower din. My .02
Having a screen is always cool, but you chose gauges instead. Is it even a possiblity that you would get rid of or relocate your gauges? Possibly get some pillars, or a glove box mount if you want a screen that bad? I would personally just forget the screen and invest that money somewhere else, but if you have the cash to do it, it makes it different.
I was in the market for a motorized screen/DVD player just recently, but decided against it because I devoted my lower din to a custom tweeter mount, and I didn't want to get rid of my Head Unit, so I just opted against it. But good luck and post pics with whatever you decide to do!

Hey man, I have the DEH-P8500MP and I wish I didn't. As I'm sure you've realized the angle of the screen makes it a bad choice for a lancer. If you were to get the lower cubby hole piexe two make the lower din for it then it woul be cool, i guess. But other than the angle it's a sweet cd player. Oh by the way, the only other bad thing about it is that it takes a while to process a cd. Like when youfirst put in a cd or just turn on your car, it takes a more than usual to start the cd playback. It get's annoying.
