how to get out door scratches

hey everyone im really pissed. i just noticed a door ding on the passenger front door of my evo which is silver in color. the ding is not dented, but it is scratched. like the door of the other car just scraped it. anyway its very noticable and i want to get rid of that ****. ive tried rubbing compound and stuff like that on other things and was not very impressed with how it worked. i also dont know how much they will charge to respray that part. i know touchup paint wont work that well on that large an area, when i say large its not big but too large for touch up paint. please post what you use on your evos to get stuff like this out. none of it seems down to the metal but it is noticable like i said. thanks.

A picture of the damage would be helpful. If the paint is chipped, then you should get it sanded and repainted. If you leave it alone, it will start to crack and eat away to the rest of the body. Estimated cost would be about $200.

Oh, and even though it's not through to the metal, it might become a bigger problem given how bad the OEM paint is.

can you feel it with your fingernail when you run your finger across it?

some parts of it you can feel with your nail, some you cant. door isnt dented at all so the other door didnt "ding" it persay. looks like they were just far enough away to avoid that, but still scraped it. im gonna wash the area really well and try some buffing or rubbing compound. hopefully that will work and i wont have to get it repaired professionally. if it comes down to it though i will cause i want no further problems with more paint loss. after all it is an evo not a kia.

I use a motorcycle product called S100 scratch remover. It comes in a tube like toothpaste. It might not work depending on how bad the damage is. Most dealers have a specialist bodywork guy on call to fix new cars with small problems, maybe they can fix it. My dealer's guy fixed a scratch under the front air dam and you can't even see it.
