well there is 2 opinions 1 is that the chrome actually prevents it from letting the heat out but another is that it is made to keep the heat in away from the engine. So i do not know lol.

I think the purpose is to keep the heat under the cover just like the heat shield on the downpipe. It will hold up fine, just may change colors like any polished manifold and exhaust (blueish tint). Mine changed in some spots to purple.

Corey, now your shield looks 10x better than mine which many hours of hand polishing don't come close to the shine of chrome. Not bad for $50.

I dont think it will. Same type of chrome they use on bumpers and harleys. Never seen them peel. I hope it doesnt lol.

Chrome will be great at reflecting the heat and keeping where it is supposed to be. It is bad to chrome amps and alternators and stuff because the chrome won't let the metal dissipate the heat. For a shield it will be great!.
