Real Carbon Fiber Hood

So I recently damaged my front end, and have decided to get a CF hood instead of my stock one(Only need to replace front bumper cover and hood). My car is wicked white and has a bunch of other carbon fiber accents already. Anyways, through my research it seems that almost every carbon fiber hood out there is really fiber glass wrapped in carbon fiber, and those weigh almost as much as stock.
I noticed that Robispec had what seemed to be a "real" carbon fiber hood for sale for $950 plus shipping(as compared to a vis oem style shipped for $500-600) and his hood weighed 10-11lbs. So his seems to be the real deal, but he hasnt been online in a month and his website is down....Anyone know who else sells the real thing? thanks ahead of time

Thats been the case for awhile. The stock hood is light already. The cost outweighs the benefit with the hood.

From what I understand, a full CF hood isn't that much lighter than the OEM aluminum hood. But it has been awhile since I have seen the weight breakdown.

Get an Aluminum OEM hood and put a CF vinyl wrap on it.

Buy a hood for style not weight... Unless you can afford to buy it for weight...

Who's hating here?

If it's for bling factor then that's something else entirely.

lol ok so the breakdown was....stock hood around 20lbs, fake cf hood around 20lbs, robispec hood around 10lbs...sure its only 10lbs lighter, but if I'm going to put a cf hood on my car I want the real deal otherwise I might as well just get a factory aluminum one

1800 for a seibon dry carbon is out the window...even then I was never able to find anyone(even on seibons website) who said how much they weighed. You think telling a customer how much your "lightweight carbon fiber parts" weighs but I suppose they dont for a reason

Try calling Robispec to see if he is still selling the hood. That was the only way I could contact him when I wanted to buy some race spherical bearings.

Meanwhile a simple search using the terms Evo 8/9 Dry Carbon Fiber Hoods brings up the following results:

Nice to know actually. so the FRP hood is real carbon fiber just painted. And so are all dry carbon hoods also lightweight? Eh I think I might just give up and order this one
