Making a lip for evo IX
the more i see it, the more i like it. i can't agree with making it CF or black, though. body pieces at the bottom of the car that are dark make the car look higher off the ground because you don't see them as well. body-colored is perfect.
So a quick update. There's been a problem in finding a polyurethane that will be ideal for this application, because the urethane I was considering before turned out to be not durable enough for this, but I think I found the stuff that will be perfect for making the lip. It is more expensive than the previous material, but that should probably only bump the price up of the lip maybe 50$ This material is very durable, rigid and yet flexible enough to withstand an occasional bump. It feels almost like the oem bumper material.
The next step for me to do, is to make a small portion of the lip before going big scale and to test it. I want to make sure that it is strong enough and that it will resist heat enough. Because if you live in a hot climate like I do in FL, you know that it gets extremely hot and I do not want the lip to distort under these conditions.
Another update is that I've started modifying the sides of the lip. I want the sides to sit almost flush with the bumper. So far its looking very good, but not yet picture worthy. Once that is done I will update the thread with pictures.

Lower quality isn't always that bad. I used to buy $50 lips for my wrx all the time. It was nice to not stress if I hit one.
Of course....$150 is a bit different. For $200 + paint, I'd need to see a finished product.
Good luck. Really looks nice.

I understand that price is a big factor for everyone, but once again it's still not set in stone. This is just an estimate.
