My Wing / Wingless Debate What Looks Better For THIS car?
Im always having the self debate on which way I prefer the look of my evo, but I just stay going back and forth swapping trunk lids! haha. I've always loved wingless evos, especially the RS, but the wing is just part of the evo profile that i love too. What do you guys think? What's your opinion on my specific car wing vs no wing? I appreciate the input!
Way back in 2011, I aquired an Evo 4 from a friend that was on its way to the junk yard, and even back then I could never decide. With the 6 now, wing stays, but I'm with you...could never decided on which I prefer. Having the option to go back and forth...is a win.
I have been team wingless for as long as I have had mine, but I definitely regret selling my stock truck and wing. I kind of want to put it back on but now its a whole ordeal to get a wing and trunk lid again.

actually my dumbass neighbor "just dont have time" to bring his 2005 Lancer ES to the events I go to. He sold it and got a 2008 ES and tells me I definitely have no chance against him now. I hate this guy
This drove me crazy for years deciding which I like more. I ultimately decided on the on keeping my evo 9 winged 90 percent of the time then enjoying a brief period wingless. It is NOT just aesthetic. It will keep the rear wheels planted during high speed cornering and it is a noticeable difference in feeling.
Without the wing the car looks shorter, stubbier and smaller overall, it accentuated the wide rear body panels more which is nice but when the wing is added the evo just looks like its so much "more". Abit longer as it hangs off the rear and just one of the most iconic and best looking wings of the era. Interestingly as I grew up (32 now) I found myself wanting the wing kept on. Its is a more sophisticated, sporty look. Considering almost all new sports cars over styled appearance today (most of them looking like transformers). The evo 9 wing is actually quite elegant by modern design standards.
Depends on if you drive it everyday I think. If everyday, no wing. If occasionally, wing.
But I actually think the low pro wing from the 2003 model year looks even better than wingless.
Haha, I have this one too! My car came with that one from factory, I swapped on the big wing, and also bought the lancer ES trunk with no holes. Options! haha

This nails it. Ive had evos for the last 15 years and always fell into the wingless look up until about 6 years ago and it seems that now with all the new modern sport compacts out, the wing on the evo just looks so perfect on the car now. You never see stuff like this anymore. Back in 08-15 wingless seemed like the way but as these things have turned classic its almost more appreciated now. Thanks for the input!
