Hey Victor saw the article about your car on Super Street or something .. Where they compared like 9 different evo's from the west coast on the dyno and on the road.. Good Job!!!

This is the same technology they use on fighter planes, the vortex generators (they're actually called this, no engrish ) line the main wings to streamline air pockets heading towards the horizontal stabilizers.

And if you look at RB's album, the generators attach via double-sided tape.

I guess the $360 question is, whether or not you can feel a difference with this thing on, and at what speeds?
I can't feel a damn thing with it on, but it definately has some coolness factor to the car. It's one of those pieces that you either love or hate. I've had inputs from both.

I liked that comparison. We made the least amount of horspower than all of them (we made more than the stock MR), but at the same time, you can see that our car really wasn't that "slow". In fact, we were faster than some on the road course...For the cars that beat us, they didn't beat us badly....and please keep in mind that we did not have R compound rubber, and we had like 2 days to prepare.

yikes....please buy this for looks and not for the aerodynamics aspect. I personally dont think it looks good enough for 360, but its an interesting piece none the less. I am sure some engineers here will back me up when I say that nobody on this board will see any difference on their street car with it.

While risking getting flamed from the morons who chided my aerodynamic report about the efficiency of the big wing, I have to say that this is one of those true tech helpers. By causing the air to spiral off the vortex generators, it helps to control airflow after the trailing edge of the roof. This is a prime area of "dirty air" (that's why some hatchbacks have spoilers up high), so this improves the flow toward the wing, developing a wanted pressure area above the bumper. Let the flames begin...

RB/Victor - this looks like a worthwhile piece - how many did you guys get and how hard would it be to get more in the near future? (I am about to move to SD, so my money is tied up right now)

Thanks,
Chris

I don't disagree with you at all about street driving. However, a lot of these guys do high-speed track work, so it would make a difference there. Any little bit of stability helps...

I am really curious to know how it affects the Cd of the car. Anyone know?

The vortex generator basically does this.....(Im an engineer, so here goes)

Turbulent air moves much faster that a laminar flow, so basically your dirtying up the air flow over the break point in the roof to help create more downforce on the wing.....

(Basically speaking, if anyone wants a better explination from a fluid dynamics point of view, pm me, but I refuse to sound like a huge nerd in this thread.....lol)

Thanks for supporting what I wrote. The way winglets and dimples affect airflow is very interesting (ie golf *****, those small ridges under side mirrors, etc.). I'm not an engineer, but I did spend last night in a Holiday Inn...

haha i like that holiday inn quote...I have a BSME before I went to law school (Mechanical Engineering Bachelors)...Anyway, I agree with the turbulence. If your going to take your car to the track and drive 150mph then yeah I can see it helping, assuming that its designed correctly of course. If this is an actual Mitsubishi Piece which I think it is, then I am sure it was properly engineered. I just meant that if it were my money, I wouldnt buy it just for the looks thats all....

hmm..people, save victor from RBMotoring a headache, cmon this nice guy just tryin to get those of you that are interested in getting that piece since YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND IT SELLS AT YOUR LOCAL SPEED STORE, he (RBMotoring) has to order them from Japan directly. Ok its costly, so if you dont want it or dont have the money...sorry to say this but just SHUT UP THEN!

No offense to anyone that's offended. Grow up people...geee

We're not trying to give him a hard time, we're simply just discussing the merits of said product. There's no doubt it's unique, and you probably won't be able to get it anywhere else, but just because it's "JDM" doesn't mean we have to buy it. A good product at a good price will sell itself. If a product is overpriced, then it will show. It's a free market here.

reduce drag on the roof area, but more downforce on that rear wing = more drag.

so i guess the question is, is it better to have that drag on top or rear?
