Relocate Climate Controls?

I want to know if anyone has any ideas about how to relocate the climate controls. I am going to make a custom fiberglass panel where the current ones are, to install most of my electronics in one place.

I think it would add a different look to the dash to have those relocated and possibly made smaller to get them out of the way

that's an interesting idea. You could even get knobs from another kind of car to make it look a little nicer and redesign the entire center section. I guess it depends on how much you want to put into it, but it could be really cool. If you have resources to do custom fiberglass work, you could do anything you want

Well seeing as we are opeining the shop....hehehe i have the access and yes it will be a redesign of the whole center section. its a big project but i am going to make it happen.

as far as the knobs im thinking something digital if there is a way to do it if not ill just find some smaller ones from another car as you sujgest.

Not to go OT but just to let you know we can do pretty much any fiberglass work you want just let me know

You can get a radio relocation kit, it changes the pocket below the climate controls to a DIN slot. Then you can get the climate controls out of a 3G eclipse, they're layed out the same as the Evo controls, but the control panel is DIN sized, so you can adapt it to work on the EVO system and relocate it. Just an idea...

Thanks for the info guys. Vegasboy : yea i thought of the arm rest thing but im thinking of going more stealth with it. i want them in reach but almoast out of sight out of mind. i will probably custom make some fiberglass mold and do something with them.

I really would like a digital touchscreen (or similar) that i could mount near the headlight and instrument dimmer switch to make it very small and very very unique. i dont know if there is anything on the market like that though

You may be interested in what this guy did. This is the best set-up I've seen so far.

I was thinking of going this route as well but im not sure i want a whole freakin computer in my car. unless i can run all my electronics through it. IE boost controller, and anything else that i could relocate to a hidden spot and not have to worry about them and can access an pop them all up on the touch screen and have the same funcionability that i would have using each instument buy itself in a custom dash assembly

There are actually a few threads on that too. Search under the username Celm. I believe he actually bought most of the parts, but due to our cars being LHD and the auto climate controls being vacume operated it was going to be major work. I'm not saying its impossible, but it seems like everyone who has tried has given up on it.
BTW. If anyone figures out how to do it let me know.
