Cruise Control

Yeh, here is the picture of my cruise control.

You know, I just discovered that I have all my windows etched with my VIN number. Does this come standard with EVO's?

Window etching is a dealer trick to "insure" your car and jack up the price. Its stupid and just costs money.

Is that the electric or vacuum one? I am interested in getting cruise installed, just haven't done any homework on it yet.

Most car insurance companys will etch a windows for free. If the thief has too replace all the windows on car it will cost over grand and they are less likely to steal the car since they loose profit. If they miss an etch window there is better chance of Police returning your car.

My insurance company Liberty Mutual will etch for free.

Peace,

Snoop

I didn't get ripped off, since I bought this used and I don't etch my windows usually. I got my mom's bmw etched... although all bmw 5 series and up has that included.

But thanks for thinking I'm a complete idiot. Maybe I've got the extended warranty too.

I heard that too snoop. It's too much to replace all windows for theives, so if they're planning on selling that car after changing the vin plate, they can't or wont.

i'm so tired.....

Most thieves steal cars so they can resell the parts. They aren't looking to resell the whole car. So they steal your car, take off theparts they want and quickly dump the hulk in the nearest alleyway within 12 hours.

What good did that window etching do for you? It might get that hulk recovered and ID'd more quickly for the police...But that doesn't mean anything to you. Either way, you end up with a totaled/theft recovered car. ie...Windows etched or windows not etched, you end up with the same result.

Those vin etchings are just one more place a thief can look on your car to get the vin#....so he can go to the nearest dealership and have a proper key made up.

SC~

That is the Rostra wand, I had that installed first, then switched out to a different rostra unit that to me looks more modern, soone else on evom has a different Rostra unit from the wand or the one I have. Do a search I'm sure you can find all about it.

It is electronic unit.

Nice, How much and does it comes with all the parts needed to work on the car? I might be interested on getting one too if it was a reasonable price.

yeah it may be a "trick", but when i got the window etch, it costed me around $100, however my insurance went down about $100, so in my situation, it pretty much paid for itself. just my .02 cents

oh yeah, and nice cruise control install. real clean! good job!
