Orbis 10 inch sub w/ Real CF enclosure only 13lbs!!!

Anyone ever heard of this? Or Orbis Audio? I have seen and add in the Turbo and Hi-tech Performance magazine (the one with the white Evo on the cover), and today I picked up a copy of Car Audio and Electronics mag, and they had a test review on this sub and enclosure.

The sub/enclosure was rated very well. The sub they said is fairly high tech and has a peak power rating of 400 watts. The enclosure itself is very small and the best part about it is that the enclosure is made from a single piece of real CF! They are made by hand. The owner of the company, managed somehow to wrap a sigle piece of CF sheet around the globe, without overlapping or cutting. He found a way to stretch and shrink the CF.

The sub and enlosure altogether weigh only 13lbs! That's awesome, considering most decent subs out nowadays weigh over 20lbs alone, not to mention a ver heavy MDF enclosure. These things go for $599.95 shipped. I wonder if you guys would be ineterested in a Group Buy? I am thinking of getting two of these.

Here is there website, http://orbisaudio.com/
but if interested you should really pick up the Car Audio and Electronics mag, (Wayne Brady's Escalade on cover)

Whose to say it won't keep up? A single one did 122.4 max DB SPL in the test. I imagine two of them could pull off 126-7 DB. That's plenty loud for me, and the weight savings it tough to beat.

Not all Bazookas suck, I heard a pair of 10 inch top of the line models ina extrab cab truck and they souned pretty freakin good! Thumped pretty hard. And I do know the difference, back in the day... I ran a 1500 watt 140+ DB Soundstream equiped maxima.

I bet we could get two for $1000.00

The sub is only as good as the install. I said it probably sounds like *** because of the rounded enclosure.

Any sub in a Hatch-back or open-cab vehicle will sound loud. (not necessarily good though) Put those same "top of the line models" in a trunk and I bet they don't sound nearly as loud. And your opinion will change.

Anyways, I just think $600 bucks for that is insane. Atleast until I see and hear it in person.

Edit: Using weight as a deciding factor for subs, to me anyways, is a pointless thought because when go Auto-X or Drag I'm going to take the sub out of my car whether it weighs 13lbs or 130lbs.

No, I never said that it would... But I bet the extra 125lbs in your trunk says my car can keep up though!

Forbidden, true a sub enclosure could be taken out for track days, but not in Mr JL Audio's case, he does have a nice custom install, but obviously it is there to stay. Furthermore I like having the daily dose of speed, and if they sound as good as this very reputable Car Audio mag says they do, then they defiantely are on my list.

$600.00 is alot of money, but you know there are single subs out there for twice that much. All I am saying is that I like the idea and if it does indeed perform, you get both the look (real CF), the compact size, and the 13lb total weight!!! Very Nice! IMHO

True. I totally agree, like I said I can't really say anything until I see/hear it in person. But based on what I know now it's not worth it

Sentinals install looks a bit like mine, except I have a single sub in a similar sized box. I just remove mine when needed. Even when my car was stock I didn't notice much of a decrease in performance, if any. I do however notice a huge difference in handling / braking.

its actually only about half that much less noticeable than even 1 person in the front seat
I used high effeciency W3's instead of going with the huge magnet ones so they don't weigh as much as most people think and with 3 of them they put out plenty.

it wouldnt really make a big difference if u have a sub box or not. so ur telling me that a 130 lbs. driver would beat a 250 lbs. driver? ...

sentinal, nice setup... how do the w3's compare to the w7's? ..

With ALL other variables equal, yes he would. By a little over a car length in the 1/4 mile.

Yes, 125lbs will make a diff in the 1/4, not sure about a full car length, but maybe a half. The further you accelerate the more the difference will be noticeable.

Don;t get me wring I love JL's and I like the setup, I once had 3 10w6's in a custome enclosure in the back of a camaro! I was just trying to maybe try something different.

Back to the topic though, has anyone heard anything about these Orbis subs?
