Pics my friend took: profesional quality!
IMHO, i would try to get to a parking lot that has lights with a hue that is more blue rather than yellow. I have taken a few pics of my silver car and a buddies black car, and the blue makes the black have better accents, etc. Also, try shooting at sunset with the sunset to the left of your car- i have also photographed black cars, and the depth that sunset brings out on a black paintjob is really incredible.
Just like owning a black car and taking care of it, black will always look the best when kept VERY well or photographed very well.
You or your buddy should pick up a book on night photography- i cant remember the title or author, but its a large paperback available at Barnes and Noble for $20, and its a great read.
Like previously stated, changing the white balance on the camera will really change the look of your car.
im going to resize a few of my own pictures, and show you what i mean.

I take many many night shots, and those are pretty blurry, and lack any definition. The coloring from lights can make for fabulous effects, or ruin the shot.
Keep your head up, they are only pics.
In no way my best night time picture, but this is the most recent (from saturday night).
An 8 second shot @ F 5.6, 8mm focal length, taken while a celica GTS drove around the front of my girls Evo. Original is 1600x1200.

Good shots? Yes, most definately. Pro shots? Nope.
When making photos look at the background and the foreground. The first two pics have a hugely dirty floor. Almost looks as if the car is leaking stuff all over the ground. Last pic is quite good, but should remove the blue square things in the background.
The pic above is nice too, but again, too much crap on the ground.
Other than that, the pics are cool. Keep up the good work!

Sorry didn't mean to jack the thread.

i think people here are critical because instead of just posting your pic, you said it was a pro shot...
example is... you can show off your evo but if you post "the best evo is the US" everyone will rip you apart
