Talking Final conclusion on exhaust

I just bought 2004 EVO (2 months ago) I have read through alot of these posts, which is awesome and tons of helpful information, and was wondering what the final word is on the best type of exhaust to put on an EVO. I would like to put a down pipe on, stay with stock cat for now, and add exhaust. If anyone can help i would be much appreciated.

The best exhaust? thats kinda subjective ....
By best do you mean:
1. Most power (probably loudest)
2. Meanest sound ...
3. Quietest (probably not the most powerful)
4. Bling factor (shiney steel, carbon fiber tip)
5. Lightest (made using Titanium)
Because its always going to be a compromise of sound, power, weight, quality and money ..... some like it loud some don't .....

i love my greddy titanium. the silencer rattles like hell though. don't know how to fix it, but i got a ticket for a loud exhaust so i gotta keep it in.

I'm running the GReddy Titanium also. The entire cat-back weighs less than 10 lbs! It's loud and light. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. Check it out here if you like.

GReddy Ti

I'm also running a 3" TurboXS downpipe and Perrin cat-delete.

The Greddy Ti is perhaps the lightest exhaust for the evo, very nice indeed
it will even be nicer if Greddy makes a matching downpipe

I personally do not like mix and matching, and my own personal preference is japanese manufactured parts... therefore I will recommend getting a downpipe/exhaust combo from the same japanese manufacturer... here are some of the japanese companies that make both the downpipe and the exhaust:

HKS, Fujitboso, Tanabe, Apex-i, RSR, JIC, ARC

I think as of now, only ARC has a full titanium exhaust (not just the tip) and a matching 3" downpipe

yeah it really depends on what you're looking for, and what your definition of the "best" exhuast is.

If you're going after light, the Greddy is it. If you are going after durability, you can forget the GReddy. Ive seen way to many of those exhausts off the car and have seen what happen to the thin titanium when a rock some something else hits.

the HKS is heavy, but rock solid as far as quality and durability. the only thing bad about it is that it tapers down to 2.6 inches where it meets the cat, which wouldn't be a concern for you if you are keeping the stock cat

really depends on what you mean by best

The best exhaust? thats kinda subjective ....
By best do you mean:
1. Most power (probably loudest) - Buschur Racing
2. Meanest sound ... - ??????
3. Quietest (probably not the most powerful) - B&B, Fujitsu, Apex WS
4. Bling factor (shiney steel, carbon fiber tip) - HKS Carbon Ti
5. Lightest (made using Titanium), - Greddy Ti, Magnaflow Ti

i think there is a 3.5" exhaust system out there by a japanese company (forgot which one)

i'd like to see the dyno for that system

personally I do not really see how a 2 liter engine could benefit from 3.5" piping but it'll be interesting to see... im pretty sure low to mid end power is compromised tho

yeah, i love forums because there's no search button that i can use to do research, instead, i'll fill up the forum with garbage threads like this because i'm too lazy to do simple research on my own. if you had really read through a lot of the forums about exhausts, you'd already know all the information in these replies.

::edit::

that and you wouldn't have posted in the show and shine section.

greddy exhausts in general are rock solid, but I dont have any experiences with their titanium products.... titanium is supposed to be a durable metal, isnt it? and if anyone's car is low enough to scrape their exhaust on the road, thats pretty dumb

Titanium is just as strong as steel, just a hell of a lot lighter. Titanium is used in the aircraft and aerospace industry because of its strength, durability, lightness and resistance to extreme heat and corrosion. A stainless steel exhaust insn't going to be "stronger." They'll both dent if you run over a huge boulder in the road. Just dodge that **** with the Evo's razor-sharp handling!
