Advan RS: 18x9 +29 Vs 18x8,5 +31
Ok, done a search. Most if not all posts here are for the 18x9 +29 setup. Looked up on the gruppe-s web site and Advan RSs also come in 18x8,5 +31. Any ideas/opinions/PICS on these two widths and offsets? I'll probably go with a 235/40 tyre in order to avoid fender rolling and rubbing issues...

Then you should have no problem with rubbing. I think most people go for the wider rim so they can put a wider tire on it. Bad *** wheels though. They seem to be getting very popular. I want them also.

The 18x8.5 +31 does not come in a GTR face like the 18x9 +29 size.
Sadly, the advan RS looks much better in the +29 when compared with the +31.
I've been researching this for a while. I love the advan RS rims, but i see no need for a 9" (for my use). And putting a 235/40 on a 9" is a little too stretched and looks goofy.
You can go 245/40 on the 9" which is a much better fit the the 235/40, but many have had rubbing issues (which some claim they have not).
Good luck

by GTR i mean the 'dish' look!
trust me man, the advan RS's look so great because of the deep dish look. I've seen a couple of pictures online of non-gtr faces and it completely changes the look of the rim.
search on subaru forums to get an idea of how the non-gtr face looks like, i've seen plenty there.

I think I like my RGII better on my previous Evo but the RS look much better in person.

thanks so much everyone. trouble over here is this: the car comes with 17s as standard and Mitsu (at an additional price) offers an official omologation for 18s with 235/40s ONLY, meaning I'm stuck with that size if I don't want issues with the cops and a heavy fine! I love the RSs on the one hand but I'm stuck with size on the other...this is why I'm considering the 8,5Js +31. tge GTR face is just so much better though!
BTW, thanks for the pics evo150!

I have 18x9 +29's with RE-01R's in 245/40/18 and they dont rub. Im lowered on Swift MR specific springs. It does depend on tires sometimes, some tires come in just a touch wider then others.

a 235/40/18 tire isnt a bad choice if you have good roads in your area. here are some links for you to look at with evo's on advan rgII 18x9+29 and 235/40/18 tires. min/max rim width for a 235/40 is 8-9.5
