As long as the fit and quality were good I wouldn't mind saving some money.

Ive worked on replica rims, Volkners (thats just hilarious) which were on a car for 2 days, came back and were bent like pretzels with no obvious damage or marks on either the tires or the wheels. I'd say buy a high quality, cast wheel from 5Zigen or someone accordingly and go from there. Replicas are just like the cast from the latest South Park episode, Mr Garrison might look somewhat like a woman, but is not. Mr. Marsh, like dolphin, but not. Kyle like a tall black basketball player, but not.

Looks and seems like a BBS, but thats where the similarities END.

look how hot my "replica" wheels look lol, other then the stickers there is not visual difference and they are almost the same weight... these are also practically unbendable. If your going to replicas.. buy them from rota only!

i had rotas on my rsx, subzeros. paid 300 (340 with shipping) for a set, or you'd pay 400 PER WHEEL for the real racing hart cp-035's.

there was no question.

however, i can't find something similar to above, black with polished lip, that i like...

i did find some on ebay, that weren't too bad, but were like 7 wide, instead of the 8 1/2 and 9's that are being done now.

With companies like 5Zigen offering wheels at such a competitive prices, I would lean away from replicas just because I can get something better for a little bit more.

That is just my opinion though. I remember back couple years ago where Rotas had problems with their sub-zero line of wheels where it broke apart at the spokes. Rotas didnt even take care of the customers that wreaked their cars because of it. Although I did read they replaced some that were sent back after the incident of the accident was spread across the internet. Just goes to show how R&D investment from a good company comes into play.

... i remember everyone saying "oh man, they're all crap" after one picture of a scooby with a busted wheel.

I beat the CRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAP outta them, never a dent or ding.

you'd have just as likely cracked or killed a lighter wheel.

besides, at 300/set from ebay, just buy another set. If you're tracking subzeros, i wouldn't expect them to be warrantied, they're a cheap mass marketed wheel. How much can they possibly warranty with a cost of 75 a corner

Which is why I say pay a little more for better quality, like 5Zigen. Acutally there was more than one incident. I use to frequent the scobby forum alot since I had a WRX before. Also, it happened to a RSX owner.

The biggest problem was not the fact that the wheel broke, although that was the problem, it was the fact that the company did nothing to compensate the owner......not even replace the defective wheel. That to me is unfair. Although autocrossing(scooby incident) is tracking the car, it is no where near as abusive as hitting large potholes on the street. Dont forget, you rarely go above 30mpg, on an autocross track.

Anyways, I am not here to argue but to offer my opinion to the thread.

Not only replica wheels crack. The stock rims on my '96 Eclipse GST all had cracks on every spoke in the same place. Uber-dangerous too, and I know this because I used to do NDI testing on aircraft so part of my job was examing cracks.
