I know alot of you will think your car deserves better than that! I agree too but was just wondering if any of you have any experience with replica wheels. Do they dent/deform easily? I can pretty much get any type of 18 inch replica wheels for about 100 each. People will laugh at me if I get fake rims

My friend just got a set of replica 19inch BBS wheels for 200.

hey, you talking about hte AT-Tangent? I know those come in a 17X8....18X8, look like BBS LM, but cast version and cost about $185 each...which isnt bad considering LM's cost about $1000 each! :O I'm considering it...Heck, its not like I'm going to EVER race my street wheels ....OR go on street (potholes/bumps ) with light wheels...bend city.

I guess it would depend on who's doing the replicatin'.

I had a set of Rota Slipstreams on my last vehicle that were supposedly based on Spoon wheels. They were great - nice price, light weight, looked good, finish held up nicely, and held up to autocross use/abuse. Depending on how "budget" you go, you might regret it. But that's not to say that there are some definite bargains available that'll do the job.

rotas are awesome when you think about it.. i have put mine through serious abuse.. yet there is not bends in them anywhere ( i travel over serious pot hole laden roads every day) yet i see the real deal ones that are all mangled... what gives? Also should i point out how well the rota Sti did in one lap of america? certainly did alot better then the AMS evo before it crashed with fancy wheels.. so its not like they arent functional either.

Im trying to organize a group buy for 17x8.5" rota slip streams in hyperblack with a polished lip wrapped in z211 255/40 r comps.

yeah...and like we really need forged/lightweight wheels to compete on the street racing circuit or something. :P If I bent my OEM's then I'd get some cheap replacements...

Nearly all consumer wheels pass some sort of certification program be it German TUV, Japanese JWL, or whoever VIA belongs to. These are independent quality test labs which ensure that the manufacturers don't put anything on the road that isn't safe.

My Rotas feel like paper, but they took a sideways bash against a curb with gusto, though it was enough to bend the crossmember.

They're Mugen RNR ripoffs, but at a savings of $400 per wheel, with a sacrifice of only 2-3 lbs, I'm not crying at all.

if they'd make a decent wheel that was what i wanted, i'd condone paying 400-600, rather than 2400-2600.

Yeah, I'm sure vehicle tuning and driver skill were minor things affecting the results, while wheels were the big factor - at least until the Rota STi crashed big time and couldn't finish the event, while the AMS Tuned Evo not only finished the event after a small off of its own (@ IRP), but placed 2nd in its class (Mid-priced Sedan) and 7th overall. It appeared the Rota STi guys did manage to bend a Rota wheel or 2, along with the STi's frame. Too bad they didn't have a van to carry enough parts to build a new car, like the 2 Grand Am Cup NSXs appeared to have with them.

Beyond all that, Rota wheels - at least the Slipstreams I had - were a fantastic value for the money.

A shout out to Jon K. and the gang from the AMS Tuned Evo. They were some of the nicest guys we competed against in OLA.

The Rota wheels are great. Top notch quality, decent weight and great looks. I had the Rota Torques in my previous EVO and they look great. Just like the Works Emotion CR except around $1K less expensive !! Nothing wrong with knock offs as long as they are good quality.
