too stiff?

ok, i know i only drive a regular lancer so i didnt know exactly where to post this because it is about evo suspension parts. im looking for a better suspension setup than i have now and i know the evo and lancer are exactly the same up front in terms of mounting points. so i was looking into Tein Flex or RA struts springs and pillow ball upper mounts. i was just wondering if it is possible to have the suspension be too stiff for the car? i dont care at all about comfort, im only looking for performance. the spring rate for the Flex is 559 and the RA is 671 and my car only weighs a little more than 2300lbs. ive already got Tein SS dampners on my car, so thats what id have on the rear (rear spring rate is 280). will having such a stiff spring rate up front have any harmful effects or anything like that? any help will be greatly appriceated.

I don't think it will work. The EVO has different lower control arms, and a wider track than the lancer. You may be able to bolt them on, but I doubt you will be able to get a decent alignment.

well what kind of alignment could i get out of the camber plates? i plan on having as much negative camber as i can possibly get. any more options or opinions is appreciated.

also note that the SS kit for the evo uses the same strut and spring as the lancer does.

As far as I know, the Evo8 suspension won't fit. Even if the tops are the same, the bottoms are completely different. HOWEVER, I belive you can swap the suspension from an Evo 7 or Evo 6 straight up with no problems. RMR did something like that to their rally Lancer. Look into the earlier Evos and you will find your answer.

well, i know that Tein uses the same parts for the 7 and the 8. and the SS kit for the evo has the same part number as the kit for the lancer. so im kinda stuck here.

I would think that due to the extreme weight differences between the evo and lancer that the spring rates would be different.

That would be my concern. Find a local evo owner who will let you do some measurements and go from there.

well, i know the spring rates are gonna be different, thats what i want. im just wondering if its possible for the suspension to be too stiff and therefore cause the handeling to be worse?

Yes, you COULD have a suspension that's too stiff. BUT going with a stock Evo suspension wouldn't be even close to that. The ideal autocross spring rate for a Lancer is something like 500-600, and the Tein SS kits use something like 300-400 (stock Lancer is somewhere around 200 at most). The ONLY issue with being too stiff is it can cause the car to be loose by losing traction because the suspension won't give enough to let the tires flex and grab. Better tires and good camber setup will eliminate most of that.
