Coilovers + Cold Weather = Squeeks ?
Coilovers + Cold Weather = Squeeks ?
I recently put a set of coilovers on my car. I have been driving with them for about 250 miles and have no complaints except for this. One, yes just one, coilover (passenger rear) squeeks when going over bumps. It seems to be more prone to do this in cold weather.
I took the wheel back off to make sure everything was tight enough, and it was. So, then I put a jack under the control arm and lowered the car with the wheel off. I had my sister bounce up and down to reproduce the noise, which worked.
It sounds like the noise was coming directly from the spring. Does this make any sense? Could the cold weather make the spring creek, or squeek? Is it preloaded too much? Not enough? Any insight from people with more experience would be great.
Thanks

I have an 05' stock Evo. I have that same CREEKING sound from the passenger side rear.... first noticed it on a really cold night, but more frequesntly since. I'm thinking about taking it in for a look at the dealer. Any suggesions or thoughts, also i've noticed a thumping noise on that side particularly when going over bumps. I'm not sure what to do... SPEEDO i'd like to know if you've ever dealt with this noise/problem before. and ...ENIGMA.... fill me in on your situation too. thanks dudes.
