Springs or Coilover
Springs or Coilover
For less than $500, I could get a set of Tein S tech installed with RRE's alignment. For $2100 I could get the magic John Muller tuned JIC FLA2 fully installed. For you suspension guru's and people who own springs and/or coilover, what is the best advice you could give me on what setup should I pick???? I want the look, and I want the performace as well. I did 3 track days last year, and I am planning to do at least 6 track days this year (road racing). Thanks!
I would say springs if you want look and a slight performance increase. But if you go to track days often and you know you need some better suspension after you tried your stock suspension on track, coilover is a great investment.
But $500 for springs, install and alignment... that is a lot of dough! Everyone's driving style and preference are different, I don't believe there is a single alignment recipe suit for everyone.
BTW, I went from H&R springs to Cusco Zero 2R's.

Any other opinion from you all that been down this road before??
Get the coilovers, don't waste time with the springs if you want to see a big performance difference. If you are local to RRE, the JICs are a no-brainer as they will dial them in to suit your driving style and they are giving you a deal at $2100 installed and corner balanced.

Spend only once and do it wisely. I would say get some coilovers and you will ever regret it. I had springs and shocks on my integra and I thought that was good enough but I ended up changing to coilovers not soon after. I have hks hipermax II on my evo and I love them. I heard JIC tend to make a clunkin noise tho so I don't know if you wanna reconsider your options. Cusco, HKS, Zeal, and Ohlins are great...just my 2cents
I have hard bad things about the RRE setup, like the last 8 adjustments makes no difference on the Dyno. If your comparing $500 to $2100 I would say you need something in the middle. The Omnipower coilovers have rave reviews I would recommend them.

dont you mean shock dyno?
also...
w/ coilovers..
dont forget with us having newer cars and all..these coils will be on the car for some time.. so take into consideration most of the brands out there are not rebuildable in us...
i believe the RRE is as well as Tein and Zeal
just something i would be wary about.. also stay away from springs especially on a tracked car. unless you can find a linear spring.. then it woud be ok.. but most are progressive and when pushed hard tend to take a lil bit to settle before coming to a comfortable pace.
