Coilover spring advise | help !

Hi,

I installed two weeks ago a set of JIC FLT-A2, the spring rate are 8K for the front and 7 K for the rear.

The probleme is the ride... way to stiff even with the damper set to 0 ( JIC are 15 ways adjustable )

I drove my friend evo with coilover HKS Hipermax II (7k front and 6k rear with damper set to 0 ) and the ride is way better than the JIC FLT-A2.

I would like to know if I change my spring and use 7K front and 6K rear will be less stiffer??? Some people told me it won't really change because the JIC damper are made for track and some told me it will improve a little bit but will still bumpy.

What do you think?

Change springs? or sell my JIC and go for HKS?

IMO you can go 2 ways. Call RRE and see if they can custom tune/revalve your JICs to your liking or sell them and get some custom tuned Zeals or Ohlins. Out of the box JDM coilovers are not well optimized for US roads.

Depends who'se it is...some are, some aren't

Try adding some damping to the shocks. With the shocks set at zero your leaving most of the work to the springs. You need to add some damping to help the shocks control the springs rates.

Try to set the fronts to 4 and the rears to 2. It'll still be rock hard but it won't be as bouncy. Adjust to you liking from there. I have mine set at 5 fr and 3 rr with the stock sring rates 10kg fr 9kg rr.

For the rideheight, I lower the F -1.5 and R -1.0 I guess.

Ok I'll try to add some damping.

Thx all.

I'm running 12/10 with Tein RAs and they ride better with the shocks turned up -- far from a glass smooth ride, but not bouncy.

Oh sorry, bracket.

I'm thinking the dampering setup is very hard even at 0 for the JIC. That's why I'm not sure by changing the spring, the car will be less stiff.

Another thing to look at is your spring preload rate. I've found that adjusting the damping and changing the prealoads can make huge changes in the car's overal ride quality.

absolutely true. You also can purchase helper springs from JIC for these as well I believe, which might assist in low speed comfort.

If it were me, I'd contact a known JIC tuner in your area and have them work on it for you
