18" evo 8 wheels

Does anyone know if Enkei are going to sell the six spoke evo8 wheel in 18"? I love the style but would like them to be bigger. If not does anyone know of a similar design wheel that comes in 18"? It really pisses me off that don't offer it as an option.

Are the roads that smooth where you live? 18's would get destroyed around here. Not to mention a flat on that type of tire would be an expensive replacement.

I'll stick with 17's Thank you!

Wait until the car is out, find out what the bolt pattern and offsets are. There will probably be many 18" wheels that fit, but I don't know if Enkei will make an 18" version of the 17" oem wheel.

I dont belive that the biggest downside to 18s is that the roads arent smooth enough but rather that it will make the gearing taller and will no doubt increase unsprung weight which could hurt handling. Stick with stock and spend the money on performance.

Guack - you reduce the side profile of the tire to maintain the rolling diameter of the tire. So instead of 235/45R17 (25.3" rolling diameter), you'd have 235/40R18 (25.4" rolling diameter). The 1/2" reduction in sidewall height adds quite a bit of harshness, and over crappy midwest/northeast roads, it'd get old. Depending on the wheel/tire selection, unsprung weight may not necessarily increase, but the rotational inertia will.

I've had 19"s on two previous cars without any trouble. Never bent a wheel.

And I live on "crappy midwestern roads".

if you watch where you drive and avoid potholes (which you should do no matter if you're driving on 15" rims) you'll be fine even with 19's.

nice m3 but why would you want 19's they won't look that much diffrent than 17 or 18s will they and they will decrease performance

I wouldn't put 19's on the Evo... I was just throwing out a comparison.

I would put 18's on the Evo, however.

The 19" Challenges on the M3 were lighter than the stock 18" wheels. I doubt they even had much greater rotational mass.

Generally, going +1 can generally help handling without much (if any) sacrifice in acceleration.

Going +2 or more generally sacrifices acceleration for increased handling (up to a point).

If I get aftermarket wheels for the Evo, I'll likely go 18".

I'll definately be getting a second set of wheels (for the winter), just depends how I like the stock wheels once I see them (and if I don't, I can always sell/trade them to someone with a "regular" lancer).

there isn't any reason not to go +1 or +2 as long as the overall weight of your wheel/tire doesn't increase. That said, 18" & 19" inch wheels that weigh the same as 17" wheels are probably going to cost you $500 each. I know plenty of people with RX7s, Supras, and WRXs in 18"s and as far as I know, none of them have broken a wheel yet - but most of them have bought Volks (or similar) which aren't exactly cheap....

18' will not be a dealer option, it will be an aftermarket fitment item. As others have said, spend the money on performance, the 17' realy are not that bad or small.

Not likely. All the common lancers are 4 lugs. The EVO has 5 lugs right?

If I can get a lighter wheel in an 18 then I'd want them on my Evolution. If not, I'd stick with 17's and look for a style that isn't heavier. I'm not crazy about the way the stock ones look.

D'oh. Had no idea.

Hopefully the Evo wheels are a common bolt pattern + offset. We'll just have to see.

I'll wait to see the stock wheels in person before making my final judgement... hopefully should be less than 30 days to arrival....
