how is the s14 treating you? .. I loved that car.
Don’t know exactly why you plan to go for 255’s, is it for performance or looks? Isn’t 255’s on a 8,5” rim a tad wide?

I think you would actually lose road performance due to the tyre being to wide and causing the side walls to bulge out and you lose rigidity? I have 235’s on my 8,5x18 gramlights and the side walls are more or less 100% straight or maybe slightly on the inward lean.

As far as looks goes a wide tyre won’t look that wide on a narrower”ish” rim. Just my 2 cent

Look at this...

I even called up frisby tire and asked them specifically about this before buying the wheels.... they said no problem with 255's on 8.5" wheel for track use.... I trust their opinion and they dont have any reason to lie to me.. the 235/40/17's cost the same $$$

These are track only wheels and will always have R dot compound on them.

Ha det bra Thomas!

Well, I guess it would be ok but I don't think it's optimal in a performance perspective, I’ve always been told that if you look for cornering performance you should use rims that are on the wider part of the recommendation scale.

If you look closely at that page you will see that 8.5” is the smallest they recommend for the 255’s and that 9.0" is the best suited rim. 8.0” or 8.5" is best suited for 235's depending on the profile, at least that’s the way I interpret this:

235/45ZR17 7.5-8.0-9.0

235/40ZR17 8.0-8.5-9.5

255/40ZR17 8.5-9.0-10.0

Det samma Nils Sorry for the Swedish guys

looks great nils. I just put the same wheels on my car! Bronze 17x8.5 57f's. I am still running the stock tires though. But I plan to go 255's as soon as the advans wear out. I love the way these rims look in bronze, and they are so hot on white....great looking car man!

Can you post a link to where you got the wheels? I typed in gramlight.com and nothing is found.
