I found some. Should be here in less than two weeks. There sight: www.imagewheels.co.uk. Billet center hubs style 35,47, 54 and cast center hub in the BL model are the ones that will clear. I'm having the BL model made in Billet.

Why would you want 16's

my guess would be lighter weight and lower moment of inertia. the second item (MOI) is the most critical in reducing the power used just turning the wheels.

Are they that much better than 16's? I'm sure some 17's are lighter than most of the 16's you will find that fit the evo.

snow tires. More sidewall will work better in the snow. Also for those dedicated drag racers you have a better selection of tires in a 16.

Heck I'd love to run some 16's for autocross if I could find them wide enough to fit some of the great tires out there in that size, especially if they were light weight

Whare are the clearance issues related to diameter? Will 16" clear the front brakes from a diameter standpoint?

What is required?

yeah, it's for winter wheels, as snow tires are so much cheaper for 16s, and the 16's will be narrower for better snow traction. the cheaper the better... those custom billet wheels look pretty $$

Have you ever notice how much clearance there is between the front calipers and wheel? The only way to get 16's is to toss the Brembos.

Nope, that's not correct, there are 16" rally wheels especially made to clear the brembo calippers on teh EVO. Compomotive and Speedline have them. Lots of people around here use them for winter tyres.

I've seen many photos of EVO's with 16" rally wheels, and they don't appear to be 4piston Brembos like on our USDM EVO 8s. Maybe they still run Brembos, but I don't they are like the stock one we have. Can you direct a link or photo to these 16" wheels?

i suppose that's an even better question...

what smaller brakes fit the evo? aside from the evo7 RS brakes. will lancer brakes fit?

i could slap a set of steelies on for the winter

besides, who needs 4 piston calipers in 4" of snow

All the rally cars that I've serviced, we've had to put the EVO7 RS brakes on in the snow rallies. I haven't seen a 16" wheel clear the calipers. If I remember correctly, the outside measurement of the caliper assembly is bigger than 16".

Just my $0.02
