A simple wheels/tires Question

Please don't flame me too bad here. I don't know much about suspension or tires/wheels......

I need to get some new tires since the Advans are wearing out. Since I'm getting new tires, I'm now in the market for wheels too.

My simple question for my Evo brethren is this: What do I have to do if I switch to 18" wheels? Will all I have to do is get a lower profile tire? It seems like all the wheels I like are out of stock in 17's, but everyone has 18's that will fit. Will 18" tires wear out noticeably quicker and be a harsher ride? Will I have to do anything to the fenders to make them fit? I've lowered my car with Hotchkis springs if that makes a difference.

Finally, is it worth it to switch to 18's? I've always thought that 17's were fine.

Thanks in advance guys.

well, fiors thing to do is figure out the width and offset you will run - from there, it will be fairly easy to pick the proper tire size to ensure everything cooperates.
