I have used the HKS Hypermax II and they have a bad po go ride in the winter. I also have used the JIC and they are very good as are the Cusco Zero 2 R.s. Have not tried the Ohlins on the Evo but on Porsche, Audi and 350Z race cars they are hard to beat. However on those cars the $ is big time.

vinny, you dont have traction cause your tires are bald.

for coilovers id do the Tein SS or Flexs. If you plan on making it a track car do the Flex's but if you want a suspension that you can drive and occasionally take to the track on do the SS. They are basically same, the Flexs have a stiffer ride. they are both compatible with the EDFC also.

i was told that the quality of the BuddyCLub coilovers was questionable because they are made in Taiwan. This was an issue that the distributor i contacted about them told me. Maybe this was a sales tactic to get me to spend more money on a different setup, but it still got me worried.

Mueller always comes up when discussing suspension. Not to blow smoke, but its amazing how everyone raves about the setups RRE puts out. I almost call them and spend my money every day.

Its too bad i'm out in the northeast. It sounds like i could ride on 10 coilover setups before i made my choice out in SoCal.

As for Tein, for some reason they never cross my mind.

well mueller comes up cuz he's had the most experience with the mitsus... he's had plenty of hours (thousands) at the track (on the evo alone) and he has plenty of people winning races, running his suspension.

on the brighter side of things (given your situation) anyone can fiddle and sooner or later get what they need or the most they can get out of their setup as long as they know what to fiddle and what kind of fiddling gives what kind of results. robi can prolly tell you he has special specs for each track in california. all from his own fiddling.

of course to the enduser... mueller cuts through all the bs for you... and hands you a turnkey solution... it's a great place to start even if you wanna fiddle. and it's a great place to end up if you wanna do no fiddling at all.

if you're interested in his setup i'm sure something can be done... both he and robi travel, recently robi went to br to tune dms setup on buschur's rs. or you can find a competant race shop near you and have them set it all up... dial it in within some certain tolerances and you can do the fiddling. if anything roadrace chassis's spec buddyclubs are a good place to begin... the valving is custom (even tho the buddy clubs were pioneered on the evo by rre, i think mueller's new buddyclubs are different but who knows, trade secrets) and it's made to run on your car specifically.
