can I run 235/40/17's?

Hey guys,

I have an opportunity to pick up a set of tires that are 235/40/17. are there going to be any problems with this set up? I am on stock rims.

Bobby

You can run those, but your ride will just get rougher and the tires will look small on the rim, when looking at a profile shot of your car. I'm going with 245/40/17's. The reason being is because when you up the width of you tire and keep the same sidewall size the tire tends to look to big for the rim. By getting one size down on the sidewall size (40), i can compensate for this problem. i have a good feeling it'll be nice.

The 235/40 17s will work fine. Just remember that your speedometer will be off by a small amount. It will say that you are going slightly faster than you really are, probably ~1-2 mph.

you shouldn't have any problems with this setup. the only things that would be different are as said before in previous replies are: a little bit harsher ride and your speedo will be off a tiny bit. but there shouldn't be any others.
