no, this is no with 255 tires. but you should prolly roll your rear fenders for good measure.

as long as you have about -1 to -1.5 camber in the rear you will be fine, no rubbing

you may get some full lock rubbing in the front

I don't see how you guys can give straight answers without knowing the offset...

LOL, if your 5 zigen wheels are 35 offset, you won't run into rubbing issues with 255 or anything narrower, even lowered with JIC. That's what I was running last year. If you are running a lot of negative camber in the front, it might barely touch the inner plastic but nothing to worry about.

well i think the only wheels that fit the evo are 17x9 +35, with this wheel 255 is a natural choice. so... with that, there are numerous people lowered and not lowered running this setup no rubbing. i say you wanna roll fenders for good measure just cuz it's a good thing to do... never know when you might hit a curb with a wheel and then it messes things up and slices the tire in half, making an already bad situation worse :\ iunno... i'm a stickler like that.

i shoulda just said search... cuz it's been covered

I hate using the search feature, but that's just me...I like this back and forth tossing of ideas. New ideas are bound to pop up with time. These would be lost by discouraging members to do a search of old posts.

I agree with trinydex, 35mm is ideal for a 9". 40mm would also work, especially if you get the jic coilovers (or any coilover with the 2.5" spring). I'm running 18x9 40mm with a 265/645 tire - which is a bit too tall - some rubbing on the inside. I ran (now my father does) 17x9" 40mm with a 245/40. Some mild rubbing on the rear trailing arm, but only at the track.

i like the slammed to the side look which is hard to achieve on the evo cuz the rear always ends up being tucked, which means to get the widest stance you gotta do some pulling... front fenders are always available... but poo on rear fenders.

but realize taz that there are very few whjeels 18x9 +40 that actually fit an Evo...most will have offsets in the high 20's to mid 30's - offset is not the only consideration, spoke design is as well
