Best Tire!

After reading every tire post in here and absorbing everything I have come to one conclusion...On the stock size, stock size wheel, the best tire is the stock Advan for dry performance/street/track driving. The price it pays is to its fast wear out rate, but in terms of pure all round performance isn't the stock tire the best?

Yeah but you can get the Falken Azenis Sport RT-615 in 255/40/17 and put them on stock rims & they are cheaper & better. If you are talking straight up stock size, I am not aware of anything in 235/45/17 that will outperform the advans, although I was really surprised at how much grip they gave away when heated up (even keeping the hot pressures correct).

I would think that a 255 on a 8" wheel would get sloppy, albeit the Azenis is a semi -R compound tire?

After 3 track days with the 255/40/17 on my stock wheels, I can say they honestly outperform or at least match the Advans in every way. No slop, but they are a tad heavier I hear. For most tires you would be right though, like I had Kumho Ecsta MX's in 255/40/17 and I wouldn't dare take those things on the track in that size. By the time you get the pressure high enough to get anywhere near decent turn-in you are ~48psi They had decent grip but the sidewalls are sorry and that size just exagerrated that fact. But no, the Falken RT-615's hold their own. They aren't sloppy at all at ~36-38 psi hot.

It seems very easy to reach the limits of adhesion on the stock tires.

Seems like they give when hot, and are a little unpredictable.

This seems and issue of compound vs. sidewall stiffness vs. tire preasure. Any suggestions?

I honestly don't know the reason why, perhaps I need a more accurate
tire gauge. It feels like the tires are melting

The weather has been extremely hot here.

I would rather have a stiff sidewall even if the ride is more harsh.

I'm wondering how stiff the sidewalls really are on the stock Yokohama's.

Those Potenzas look interesting and I like the tire rack write up on those.
