Cross-drilled rotors are known for cracking so I would avoid them totally. Slotted rotors will "clean the pad surface" with the slots but this can lead to increased pad wear. For street or track use I would just use regular rotors without all the bling.

Cracking occurs from high heat which is generally controlled by the pads and tires friction and temp limits and driving conditions.

HPS can't likely get hot enough to damage a rotor. They will fade first.

Put a HT-10 on there w/ some R-compounds and see how long your rotors last.

Bump for an old thread.

I'm curious about how the rear rotors work with e-brake. It looks like the e-brake will just use the inside of the aluminum hat as a drum. Is this going to cause any issue if the e-brake is actually used in an emergency situation?

I just put these on the back of my car, slotted....I run stoptech BBK on the front. I have not driven with them yet but i to am curious about the emergency brake situation. I let you know on fri, that is when my car will be back on the road. one word of warning, you do have to grind away some of the backing plate on the rear outside pads (not the pad itself) to clear the bolt heads that attach the rotor to the hat. not a big PITA, because even on track rears pads last a while

According to Baer, the front 2 pc rotors w/hat weighs only 11 lbs. each. Our stock rotors weigh 20-21 lbs new. That's almost a 40 lb savings total. I plan on ordering front and rears this week. Autocross use only.

FWIW, limited lifetime warranty against warping.

Baer doesn't really have much name recognition in the sport compact market and their Evo setups kind of faded to the side. If I was looking for rotors for a lot of track day duty, I would look for something like the PF rotors that Road Race Engineering sells. For spirited daily driving and autocross, I think the Baer 2-piece slotted setup will work well.

We are able to get these brakes, front and rear - only in the black hat, slotted rotor, zinc-coated combination. Relative to other 2-piece rotor combinations, we are able to sell these for significantly less. I'll hopefully be making a seperate post for a sale for these in the near future, but in the meantime, give me a call for the best price.

Link to our current sale.

That weight information is not quite correct. The fronts weigh ~16.5 pounds each and the rears weigh ~13.5 pounds each. The rotor discs are pretty heavy duty, but the aluminum hat helps to offset any additional weight. It's still a significant reduction in unsprung weight.

MMM. So why does Porsche use cross drilled on the Twin Turbo 993. If you see minor cracks
near the holes that normal. Mine are fine.

Machv IS a forum sponsor -

They definitely have a banner ad - my guess is Dan just doesn't post
