I had 255/40/17 Toyo Proxes on 17x9 FN01R-Cs with just a touch of rubbing in the front passenger wheel well at full wheel lock (car lowered ~1.5" front, .75" rear). I now have Azenis RT-615s in 275/40/17. They've given me some problems (fender rolling, substantially more rubbing up front, ect.), but it's doable. I have some Kuhmo Ecsta V700s coming in the same size, and I'm assuming they'll fit also. The 255/40/17s will be no problem for you.

I run 275/40 on 9.5" MT03+M Enkei at all FOUR CORNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had to cut/roll inner rear fenders. Front fenders just pulled out a little.

For you, the 245/45 17's sound like your best bet. But, my set up really is like a hot wheels car on steam roller tires!!!!!!!!!!

What did you have to cut? I rolled my rears and still have rubbing where the bumper meets the fender (two corners butted together near the bolt that attaches both pieces together). Is that what you cut? Thanks.

I'm looking to get the same 255/40 17 ra1 with fnorc's. Curious about your clearances. What suspension? Stock alignments?

Toyo RA-1s 255/40/17 on my race rims... work just fine, problem is that I've heard they don't heat up quite fast enough for some Autocross events

You can fit 275's with those rims. you need to roll the rear fenders, run the appropriate amount of negative camber int he front, add longer wheels studs with 3 mm spacers.
