Coilover durability and questions

I just ordered an '06 Evo IX, right off the bat, does anyone know if evo 8 suspension components are a carryover?

Also, i was thinking of getting a set of apexi N1 EXV coilovers, and was wondering how the durability of these and coilovers in general are. How do they hold up over winters? Rust or clogging of the adjustability perches? I did not drive my wrx in the winter and only had tein springs so I have no idea. Also, do most coilovers have a ride height similar to stock if properly adjusted?

What is a good street coilover setup? I have been swayed away from tein basic dampers because i have heard they make the car handle worse than stock, can anyone confirm this?

1) all EVO VII, VIII, and IX suspension components are carry-over and interchangeable.

2) Most of the coilovers on the market today offer rust-proof treatment on the coilovers, so you don't need to worry too much.

3) As for ride height question, all coilovers come w/ pre-set ride height from manufacturer. If you do not prfer the pre-set settings, you can simply adjust the perch to raise/lower to your desired ride height.

4) if driving around town looking good is your only cup of tea, The "Basic" coilover setup is good enough. If you plan on doing a lot of track time, these basic coilovers will definitely not up to task.

hope this helps

I can tell you from experience that JIC coilovers will rust, and the adjustment knobs on the bottom of the front struts will bind in a heavy salt environmnet. My Evo saw one winter, and it had a set of JIC dampers on it - I'll never send another set of coilovers through a Minnesota winter again.

After having to track down and undo all the minor corossion issues that appeared after my car's first and only winter, I just park my Evo when the snow flys now. While my Evo may not like salt, it is an amazing amount of fun in the snow! (with the right tires)

I'm personally running Zeal Function XS now and really like them. They seem to have better build quality than the JICs did in addition to having better riding dampers (with comparable spring rates).

Teins here on my eclipse....they've lasted about 4 years including 3 or 4 winters...so far so good...they look a little rusty and I havent tried to change the ride height in a while, but overall they are holding up well.

I can get some ZEAL Function Xs ones (not the Function X)...

but how would the Function Xs compare with the Function X? I've done lots of searching, and haven't found anyone comparing the two.

This is for 90% roadracing and maybe... just maybe... 5% track. But the roads here are very twisty, and with the stock MR suspension I'm tripod (3 wheels on the ground) quite a bit of the time... so wondering which I should get.
