All Seasons
All Seasons (Comparrison)
Okay, I'm looking ahead to a winter tire, but can't seem to justify just a winter tire. So I'm looking at getting an all season for the winter and trying to save for 4 new Advans next spring.
Right now I like the MB Motorsports Weapon (gunmetal color), and I'm trying to stay with the same wheel and tire size. Undecided on wheels at this point.
My question is: which all seasons to get?
What's in the running:
The Falkens are the cheapest, the PZero's and Conti's are the most expensive with the Toyo's in the middle. I've read good things about all of them, I've read bad things about all of them. Although the bad can usually be summed up with "they are not as good as the Advans."
DTD = Discount Tire Direct
ER = Edge Racing
TR = Tire Rack
We have mild winters with only bits of snow here in the D.C. area, but these will most likely be on from October through April, so I definitely want good dry traction.
All advice is appreciated!

Can't comment on the Falken or Toyo's, but we do carry the Conti and Pirelli. The Pirelli will be the better clear day/handling tire of the two. Works well in low snow environments where you don't see a lot of accumulation. The Conti is the best all season performer in its class/size. It will sacrifice a bit of dry traction for better snow bite. Remember, your already a step ahead of the game with AWD, it just depends on what you want more of. Personally, I would rather have better snow traction and know I'll be prepared if things get nasty. Especially if your only going to treat them as a winter set of tires.
I'm in the same situation as you, as my advans are completely gone after just 6,500 street miiles. I couldn't put winter tires on just yet, so I went with the Pirelli PZero Nero's from Tire Rack yesterday. They seemed to be the best handling all season tires I could fine. I don't drive in the snow, but sometimes you have no choice and the advans are just dangerous for that.
I have the Toyo Proxes 4's and think they are a good all season tire. I got them last winter and they do great in the snow. I think you would be happy with them. I am running them year round and have no problems with them.
Thanks for the help.
I like the Toyo Proxes, but don't like (or can't afford) the rims that places selling them offer. I'm wanting to get new wheels, so I can put Advans back on the Enkeis next spring and have two sets to quickly swap out.
I ended up going with Pirelli's from DTD (Sorry Neal
) Tire Rack didn't have any wheels I liked (or could afford), and I did not want the hassle of getting wheels from one place, tires from another, then local mounting, balancing . . .
Thanks again for the advice, all.

Sup,
I live in Ohio and the weather can get pretty bad here sometimes. I've been looking at options for the winter as in adding a second set of wheels to the garage for the evo but it just gets way too expensive. I also thought of getting steel wheels and paint them black in a 16x7 size to look like rally, but they dont make wheels that clear the brembos...
I see some of you guys live in Ohio....and the roads buckle here from the cold. Driving on 45 series tires can be really harsh on the back as well as the suspension. What's a good option for adding some winter tires or going to all seasons ?

Also,
If you want some nice wheels and dont want to spend a lot. Go to www.subydude.com.
They specialize in wrx stuff but they still carry wheels for other cars and they have some options for the Evo.
