So I somehow managed to thrash both the front and rear right side tires last night (Michelon Pilot Sport Z Rated <14000 miles) and the inside of the front rim. I have no clue what I hit. The shop I towed it too (thankfully they sent a flatbead) is a Cooper/Goodyear dealer. Now this is kind of a no brainer but they suggested a Cooper brand tire, just replacing the two. Never had Cooper tires and I don't recall anyone bragging about having Cooper tires on their Evo. I want to know what my fellow Evo owners would do? #1 - Go with their tires and have it done today or get some new tires from Tirerack (where I got the originals) and #2 - Just go with 2 new tires or get a set of 4. The tires on the left are still in decent shape, I'm just picky about having matched tires Any advice would be great!

 

anybody running the Goodyear GS-D3???

 

I would buy 4 tires, and they sure as hell wouldn't be Coopers.

 

Definitely not going with the Coopers at this point... I just wish I had more time to research tires at this point. I think I spent two weeks mulling over my decision when I replaced my Advans...now I have 2 hours!

 

get advan neovas...not winter tires but heard great things about them in summer.

 

Thanks for advice...I live in FL so I'm not too concerned about winter, but I do need something that'll hold up in wet conditions. I'm leaning towards the GS-D3's, just seems like every review I read from an AWD car doesn't like them...says the sidewall is soft. I think we're all just jaded from the stock Advans. I i could afford to replace tires every 10k miles I would just go back to them.

 

if you're running stock rims you'll be limited by which tires will actually fit. Some people put "fatter" tires on an 8" rim than stock, sure they'll physically fit, but will they handle as well as a 235? Bridgestone SO3's are decent, not as good as the stock advans though, but about $50 per tire cheaper.

 

Goin with the GY GS-D3, so I guess Friday I'll find out whether I like em or not

Here is some more info on the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 .

I had them on my car but only for a month ( got my snow tires on now ). They did excellent in the heavy rain.
