Front Driver Side Rotor
Ok guys, I picked up my evo 9 about a week and half ago. I did the 200 mile break in period for the brakes, the car now has 983 miles. Now today I washed my car and saw that the front driver side rotor has this line going all the way around it. the passenger side rotor is fine along with the rest of the back two.
I just took some pics and want some opinions. I haven't done any hard braking. The car hasn't been trakced, raced or nothing. This is really freaking me out.
Any of you guys know that the hell is going on. The car breaks fine, and doesn't make any kind of metal grinding noise. I don't know how this happend or when, I've never heard any noise from the breaks.
I'm going to post 3 pics of the driver side rotor,
then 3 of the passenger side.

It looks like a defect in the pad. The rusty area is where the pad is consistently not making contact. If you are really concerned then pull out the pad and look for damage -- that or take it to the dealer.
It could also be a groove in the rotor but I can't tell from the pics?
In either case it will probably disappear over time.

well im going to take it to the dealer tomorrow. I ran my finger over it, and it's not smooth. There is a slight grove in it, and it feels a bit rough. Like I said the brakes work great, and don't make any noise (but they do dust alot lol, i know that's normal).
Thanks for responding JTB

PA-silver so your evo did the same thing? Was it the driver's side rotor also. Do you think I should do some HARD braking to see if the pad finally makes some contact to get rid of that ugly line???
I had the very same thing happen to me. The ring is in the very same place on mine as well, the left front rotor only. The grove/ring on my rotor come out though not in. I decided to poke around at the pads once I noticed it and now it is worn away, you can not even tell it was there.

Ewww, so im not the only one this has happened to. Ill do some hard braking tomorrow and also take it to the dealer to see if there is anything wrong with the rotor or pad.
