19 inch wheels

first of all, i tried searching so all of you evom know-it-alls dont even say "search" i typed in all different combinations of words but since "19" and "inch" were too short of words, the search didnt even use them.

now to my question. i really like how these wheels look but they only offer them in 19". i was orignally looking into 18" wheels because i think 19" is a little to big but these wheels are the sex. anyways, i was wondering if there were any major drawbacks for having 19" wheels. (performance, handling, fitment)

thanks a lot, i appreciate it

Increased tire costs
Increased weight
Avoid potholes like its your job

I think the ride would get worse, the car would not handle as well and the 19 inch rims wouldn't serve any purpose on a daily driven car.

Well I live in NY and I have Racing Hart 19" with 245/40/19 Toyo Proxis and they ride fine.
The wheels dont weight any more than a stock wheel. And Yes they look hot.
With any wheel other than stock you have to watch for holes......

More rotating mass typically means slower times.

Most of the show guys are running 19's on their EVO's. Most everyone else is running 17's / 18's. 19's can definitely be done, but just keep in mind that any increases in rotating mass (weight / size of a wheel) decreases the power you're getting to the ground. 19" wheels are not any weaker or stronger than 17/18, but since you usually run a lower profile tire, you are subjecting the wheels to more stress. I would recommend a solid JDM wheel (Volk or Advan) if you're looking to run 19's.

Cheers,

Gary
