Best Performance Brake Pads???

I'm looking to replace my worn o.e. brake pads. What are the best aftermarket performance brake pads out there? Ones that last longer, less brake dust, less squeaks, less rotor wear? Thanks all

Project Mu NS would probably fit the bill.

2) DS2500. Nice on rotors, very little dust (but noticable), fairly decent stop, quick to warm up (but still needs to), little squeak.

Or you could go with what I seem to be the only person using, the Mu Level Max 900. Squeaks like crazy (but you can get anti-squeal paste), eats your rotor (who keeps them forever?), clouds of dust (try not to go sniffing near your wheels) but stops like you drove into a pond of UHU. From cold.

Another vote for DS2500. Tested it on a road course, it held up pretty well.

On the other hand I had a bad experience with a low/mid-range Project Mu (I think it was the 0-500C range); crappiest set I've ever tried.

Project Mu 0-800C was okay but the squeal and brake dust are probably a little too much for the average user.

yep it starts and stops with the DS2500...for an all around pad that can go from street to track days, with all out performance in mind, there is nothing better

If I could venture off topic a little;

Many people including myself have recommended the DS2500. I like them a lot but for sheer stopping power, it does not match the Mu.

How does the DS3000 compare to the 2500? There are variants of the 3000, such as the 3000-Endurance and so on. Anyone tried them? The area I am most interested in is cold stopping performance and perhaps not such an extreme wear and tear as the Mu Max 900

i've used both Ferodo DS2500 and Project Mu Titan Ki. Currently on Titan Ki and don't plan on going back to DS2500.

However, it all depends on what your plans are. Are you just looking for street pads? light track and street? or track and street?

I say DS 2500 fit the second category and i was extremely happy with those for street use and they are decent on the track. No warm up required etc, but would fade. cooling them would bring them back, but they were always there...just pad fade but you never have to second guess.

Titan Ki just plain rock at the track. Their clamping force at the track is just unfriggin believable. It shocked me the first time I got on the brakes. reduced my stopping distance that i had to rethink my braking point. However, on the street esp in the winter they require a tap to get warmed up but they do still grab really good. However, once they heat up after spiriting driving they tend to squeal until they cool off. I'm currently on snow tires and they clamp so hard that i've had the tires lock up (not even ABS kicks in). But that is just because of crappy tires.

Keep in mind that your brakes will ONLY BE AS GOOD as the Tires you have on. OEM Advans Rock.

I'm sticking with Titan Ki for daily driver for now as i don't plan to keep swaping pads for the track and was too lazy to do anything for the winter. they are a good compromise pad for summer street driving and track use.

as for brake dust...honestly can't remember. perhaps ferodo's dust less than titan ki but TK have a much higher degree of friction and higher temp. i think the range is 0-800C and cf of 0.32/0.4 - 0.6 ( i think).

hope this helps.

fyi - usually a pad that lasts longer, has less brake dust, less squeaks & less rotor wear performs worse than a pad that lasts not as long, has way more dust, squeeks like a dying pig and eats your rotors.

Do you really want the 'best performance' pad out there?

I ran the DS 3000 for over a year. make the 2500's feel like nothing. cold or hot, great stoping power. figure to cut rotor life by two thirds. mucho dust. you can control squeal with frequent antisieze for the most part
street or track perfect.

currently running 2500's which I find only OK. have not had them on the track and will prolly switch to ht 10 or something else for the track.
