strong rims

what rims out there are strong and reliable in rough conditions...for example potholes and things in that nature. the area i live in doesnt have the nicest roads..i want a rim that i wont have to worry about if i hit a pothole every now and then. oh yea im looking 18's.. thanks

you can bent any wheels with the right pothole, especially in 18" size. If you live in an area with rough road, I would go for 17s for many reason, less bumpy, better grip, less chance for damaging the wheels and so on. If you still want to get 18s, I would get something cheaper in price rather than something "strong" for a lot of money, because you will end up bending them after all.

ok cool with that said i was looking at the 5Zigen FN01R-C in 18x8.5. what offset do i get to clear the brakes and no fender mods? can i go 18x9.5? if so what offset and would i have to roll the fenders.thanks

From what I've read Volk(rays), Work, Some Einkeis, Advans are very strong and durable.
From experience I've never had a BBS rim bend on the rough San Antonio streets. Had 18's with 35 low profile on my old Porsche and stockers on my 04 STI and now 05 MR with no problems and plenty of potholes. Expensive though.

From my own personal experience, anything drop forged is hella strong... The Roja formula 7's I have held up to a 70mph impact into a concrete and only bent in the lip 3/8ths of an inch. It's fixed now and looks good as new! I saw the Rays video floating around the forum; they drop forge I believe.

thanks bolio..i had bbs on my m3 and beat the hell out of them and never bent..but other than the stock bbs are there any other bbs rims that look good on evos?

I purchased enkei rpf1 sbc finish, had many people warn me about them not being strong. I drove cross country, and in downtown denver potholes....no dents.

I hit some holes here in Dallas, have not yet hurt my Volk CE28's in 18" diameter...and my suspension is fairly stiff.

i have some enkie cdr-9s in size 18 and i did bend one of them but its not bad enough to fix.

also have a 35 series tire on them

5zigen is a good choice if you want to go 18s, they are cheap to replace at least, I have 2 sets, one set in 17x9 with stock tires and another set in 18x9.5. Both sets are with 35 offset. No modification needed for 17x9 up to 255 size tires. For the 18x9.5 with 285 30 18 tires, the front and rear fender needs to be rolled and need at least a 5mm spacer in the front to clear the inner struts, those are for autox only. If you decided to run 18x9.5, you might get away from rolling the fender by using smaller tires like 255 or 265. Hope this help.

to run the right tire on the 9.5 you'd have major fender work ahead of you.

to run the 8.5 you'd idealy want +30 but a +35 will work, just run 255 tires and you'll look more flush.

also with the 9.5s if you have a set of coilovers you'll have more clearance and no need for a spacer in front (methinks) as my friend is running this setup for street on heavily lowered jic mueller setup.

so this brings me to ask what sus are you running kevo.
