Not true, a Muellerized buddy club setup has a much better ride quality on the street than stock. The springs feeling heavier which you can feel in the smaller bumps, but feels softer over larger bumps and impacts and eats them much better than stock. The damping is completely controlled with very little ride chop. This was also a track tuned setup. There are options for even more comfortable tunes... ask Mueller and get a ride in a Mueller setup.

I've been in 2 muellerized setups, and driven a 3rd, how many have you been in?

do a search and read reviews on Muellerized set ups. If you have the cash and then do it right and get coilovers. Given they may be too much for what you plan on doing.

Anyway, even on the street i love the set up. The car is extremely well balanced and the weight transfer is perfect. You won't regret a Muellerized set up. The guy knows his sh*t!

btw - the ride quality is better than stock and the drop is perfect

if it was me I'd save up $500 more and get the double adjustable KW's. They seem to be an incredible value for the price. No personal experience with them though.

there are different spring rates available just for a little more $$ on top off that. Softer, etc...

Thanks to all......Yes, I am aware of the fact that you can do both improve ride quality and performance over stock....Mits definitely missed the setup on the 03. It's not that I can't deal with a stiff car....when compression and rebound is correct the wheels stay on the ground. I will wait a paycheck and speak with both parties and see how it goes.....

I am going with the Muellerized buddy club setup. Just waiting for John to get more in stock. I also added the Quaife front LSD from RRE, and it completely transformed the car. If you have an 03 get teh Quaife, it will be the best $ you ever spent.

Now I am just sitting back impatiently waiting for my coilovers to see how the car will respond w/ a suspension.

with a well set-up suspension...no. I wanted the front LSD in the worst way for quite some time even after I put the Ohlins on the car but after we re-valved them the wheel spin stopped being a problem. My car makes good power too and was on 255RA1s with lots of negative camber (which are all things that contribute to inside wheel spin). If you car is well hooked up it will not need aggressive diffs, end of story.

well i have the apexi n1 evx that i got from the apexi garage sale, rre sway bar, cusco strut bars, cusco lower arm bars and an ingall stiffy. the car rides pretty nice and corners pretty flat. but i wanted more so i was talking to robert fuller aka Robi about what i am looking for and for $900 he going to set me up with custom springs and helper springs and certain bushings that he recomend, alignment and corner balancing the car. if you saw the american touge 2 you know what robi's car can do. i didn't choose robispec because he was better than RRE, it was because RRE or RRC is great at setting up the cars for track use but they are not the only ones that can set up a car, american touge 2 prove that!

I would certainly consider the Bilsteins as well...

Criteria:

1. Lower car properly
2. Improve ride quality '03 bone crusher, rough Minnesota roads
3. Handle 2 trackdays a year
4. Make the car neutral or slighty oversteer
5. Hold up in the MN winter, salt and crap, it wrecks wheels everything...
6. Spend $1500 give or take $200.00

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies..

these criteria are really difficult. if you want a cush ride you're gonna have to pay for it. ohlins and motons are cush. if you can handle a lil bump and grind then you should be fine wtih what both robi and mueller produce, however even the cheapest coils from etiher will run more than 2000 installed (not that this is a worry for you as you are not close enough for an install).

that said buddyclub seems your best bet. but then you're saying you need to stand up to harsh weather nad coilovers need to be built in harsh conditions.

you're being quite impossible.

if you want just hte lowering spring idea, then you can get the espelir springs with a roll bar, rear trial arm bushing and throw in a quaife and if you'd like to compete seriously some camber plates cuz tire roll over is a time killer. but this is not gonna be a cushy ride... it'll be like stock...

Which show did you watch? Our Evo was the highest finishing Evo in the American Touge 2 shoot, second only to the XS Skyline, with a score of 98 out of a possible 100, as listed in the results of the event. The tuner you mention did not even finish in the top 3 out of the Evos present that day.

I am actually not going to sell them, at least for a while. I am going to revavle them, and then resetup the car for slicks. I want to get something different, but I can't afford to get what I want. I would prefer something less 'off the shelf', and more custom. I have access to some of the Cup teams suspension guys, so I may just work with their providers and get something 'custom' for my car.
