hello everyone ..
i am thinking of getting the Tein H-tech springs for my MR ..
it's 1.4" drop on the front and 0.3" to the rear ...
just wantin to know if anyone got any experience with those ...

a friend of mine told me lowering an MR would ruin it ...

 

If you do a search, you will see that most people with an MR seem be going with the Swift springs or the Espelir GT springs with no problems. Myself I would go with the espelir gt springs, I have those and they have been great for MR.

 

whats the drop ont he espelir gt springs? and on the swift springs?

dont do H-techs they are not designed for our car for performance, but more for luxury look.

 

I highly recommend you don't get the Teins on your car. I had a MR and I had Teins and they destroyed my all 4 shocks within the first week. Go to www.evolutionmr.net and read more. There are many of uss that already tried them without success.

Be extremely careful, I am not making things up, do more reserach and surf evolutionmr.net first to give you a better idea of what other MR owner had run.

i've been doing a lot of reading on this topic, and either of these springs are the way to go for the mr...it seems there similar in ride, but the swift springs are made of a diferent material which won't weaken over time, and there extremely light weight, but the espelirs are great also, but almost impossible to find right now...

 

As far as I know, there are only 2 springs made to work with the MR's Bilsteins.

Works Rally and Swift.

I personally have the Works Rally springs on my MR and I love them.

I strongly advise against any springs that are not designed for the Bilsteins. They are NOT cheap to replace.

 

u wuill ruin the ride i will be worse then stock get coilovers i get a set for 8 something on my 03 evo had the tein's in the past they suck.

 

my friend had H-techs on his evo and he bottomed out costing him severe damage.

 

Only springs I would ever put on my car is SWIFT.

 

what about the tien S ?? i think they are made especially for the MR ..

If you bought a MR why purchase springs? the MR already comes with Bilsteins! Thats the main reason why most buy a MR is for the Bilsteins and the 6 speed tranny.......

I wouldn't touch S-Techs, ever, period, with ANY Evo.

 

i've heard the works are a great product. it's what i'd use if i wanted to modify my MR's suspension. i've heard that any drop more than around 1" will blow the bilsteins out in no time, maybe 1.2" MAX.

 

If I decide to hold off on coilovers, I'll be going with the Works springs, less than 1" drop all around. I had a similar setup on my STi (stiffer-than-OEM Prodrive Springs, even drop all around about .8-.9" and it was great.

 

Botton line, listen to the people that already tried them. If you are obsess with the looks of the drop and really don't care about destroying the expensive MR shocks and wear out the expensive tires then go ahead.


I was one of the first MR owners to do springs and the results were cathastropic, the Tein destroyed my shocks within days, my car was nasty and oily because all the fluid from the shock leaked. My tires worn out within days.

The ride was awful, the car lost all the suspension comfort, the handling was horrible and I started to damage the motor mounts.

I am soo glad I took them back and I put the originals back on..

Honestly, I suggest either don't put the springs at all or buy a nice coilover set.

Another downside is that the cost of installing a set of springs is often more expensive than installing a full set of coilovers and this is based on the fact that you need special tools to compress the springs and all that crap.

Summarizing:

Never get Teins low drop springs for the MR
consider keeping the great stock suspension
upgrade suspension to a coilover set
