Volks may be the best wheels...

Just put on my Volk LE37T's yesterday and I must say they are flawless in design and construction. They are also the lightest 18" wheel I have ever had, and I have had on previous car's...HRE, IForged, Racing Hart, Maya, SSR, etc. Not one besides the HRE has been PERFECT! Pics soon to follow

I aggree. I have a set of Volk GT-U's in Gunmetal, and they are very light considering the look as if they would be heavy, and they are flawless in design.

I have a set of SE-37A's on my RX7, 18x9.5". I remember the first day they arrived and I lifted them out of the box. Simply amazing in their overall lightness...and yes, the finish was flawless and they looked fantastic. For about four months. I had anodized bronze SE's and the finish started deteriorating after the first rain. After four months, they looked truly pathetic and I could not remove the haze which had set in on the surface. I washed them with soap/water only and when that didn't work, I started with mild wheel cleaners strictly for anodized rims. That didn't work either. Polish was next, same result. I finally gave up and contacted Mackin Industries. Yes, I received an initial response and once I sent in images, I never heard back from them. Nice customer service.

I may have had a bad batch but I've encountered others with similar problems. I'd be wary of the anodized Volks for that reason and stick to Volks that are powder coated/painted. Definitely a well-constructed/engineered wheel, but it has a fragile finish.

If anyone wants to see images of my Volks as they exist today, speak up and I'll shoot a few and post them.

volk is definitely great, if you guy's have seen the volk forging vids it's pretty impressive.

they're certainly one of the best manufacturers of wheels in the world, what's more their designs are timeless (or so it seems after all these years people still love them).

just wish they were a bigger company and made more wheels. sucks that they're not more proliferated... makes it hard for people that want to race on them.

Too easy to bend a wheel? Ive found them to be incredibly strong. I drive on the worst roads here in NJ and Ive yet to bend one. Ive had 3 other kinds of rims and bent them all!

That is too bad about your wheels.. but for the money they cost, wouldn't it be worth it to have them stripped and powder coated by someone else? Unless you live in Tibet, there is usually lots of places locally where you can do this.

I'll take a few images tomorrow morning. I've thought about having them stripped and re-anodized but I'm not sure that's even possible. It's a complex mesh design and it may be difficult to powder coat them and come out with a flaw-free finish. My 7's black otherwise I'd paint the Volks black. I've also heard it's not advisable to powder coat aluminum rims? They usually media blast parts to clean them off. I wouldn't want to take these to just anyone and I live in "resource-limited" area, not a major metropolitan area. I might be willing to send them out if someone knows of a qualified facility.

Just returned my Volks - Initial shipment of 4 had two different colors. I sent 2 back and waited for the next 2; next, a 3rd variation showed up - sent them all back for a refund.

Mackin hasn't been very quick with the refund
