Cleaning Bilsteins??

So for those of you out there that have ever had to clean off your Bilstein suspension ... what should I be using to clean off the grease and grime that is built up on them?? They are off of the car(for now) so I can really get at them, but I don't want to use any chemicals that might damage or strip the paint/coating.

Any suggestions??
