Weight of the front strut bar

Holy crap. The factory front strut bar is heavy compared to the accessory one. I had a chance to hold both of them today and let me tell you, there has to be a 10lb difference.

Thanks for the info Fireball. Anyone know a good alternative aftermarket front strut bar to the Mitsu accessory one, that would fit the Evo and cost a lot cheaper?

good call. I wish I knew the weight difference when purchasing the evo. Of course I wouldn't have paid that much for the optional version anyway. Other cars are getting FSTB for $12 on ebay!! I'm aiming at weight reduction as a major step forward for the evo. There already seems to be so many possiblities. 10 lbs here and there eventually add up. I think it would be fairly easy to eventually get the VIII to be in the low 3100 lbs /w stock fuel tank. sub 3100 with fuel cell.

Unless you drive the Evo at a track every day I doubt most people will notice the difference between two different FSTB's or even with or without a RSTB. After looking at the stock steel one, it doesn't look like it could get much more rigid then that. That thing aint gonna flex for nothing. Weight loss is where it's at.
