snow chains on lancer oz...

I have to drive from california to oregon on monday and I might need chains. The manual on my 03 lancer oz says no to tire chains. Has anyone used chains on stock lancer oz or perhaps the straps? I don't want to drive my truck (no stereo) on a 12 hour trip, but I don't want to take damage from tire chains. Can anyone throw some experience my way?

r u going through shasta? i didnt think snow was still left. i would just use those cables and not the chains, the cables fit snug where as the chains are more loose. But don't take my word for it, i live in the city and never chain up.

hermiston huh. you are definatly traveling to a happening part of oregon. i think you should have more worries about hitting a cow in the road than snow or ice. don't think they will move if you drive slow up to them. they will just run down the road in front of you.
